CANADA'S RIGHTS MOVEMENT: A HISTORY
This site offers a wealth of information on the History of the Human Rights Movement in Canada. It provides a chronology of key events, a listing of key players and organizations that helped in the formation of Human Rights Legislation in Canada. Great reading.
The site is the work of Dominique Clément , Department of History,University of Victoria and started as an MA Thesis.

Mind numbing revisionism. As if "rights" started this century...what was the magna carta> chopped liver..pffftt liberals...UN zombies who don't know that "rights are pointless until you have secured the freedom to exercise them, at the barrel of a gun if need be...and of course they always confuse them with collectivist "entitlements" doled out by nanny state.
There is definite slant to the left, in fact one of the researchers - Hannant was a maoist back in the day. However from a historical perspective it does give a goo d picture of the who what where of the rights movement in Canada.
BCF: Commies do not recognize "rights"...natural rights are the gift of the individual...in collectivist statism, there are nothing but group entitlements and only if the government "gives" them to you.
Natural rights are a gift of your creator to you as a human individual...no government can "give" these to you, you're born with them and these rights predate all Governments....this is a Greek democratic concept of civil rights later adopted by western liberal democracies as being self evident rights of man.
In the commie/collectivist/Fabian realm of thinking rights come only with absolute classless social order...and then only to groups...of course in practical application all communist governments have ensured that the political class is more equal than others.
It is this leftist warped sense of perspective which has turned natural inherent individual rights into something called "human rights" which are an administered entitlement commodity doled out or trimmed by a central committee.
WLMR I absolutely agree with you rights are universal and natural. I find the site interesting because it does list all the players who were to one degree or another instrumental in shaping Human Rights in Canada. The fact that they were for the most part pinko commies is even more fascinating from a historical perspective.
Above comment should read should read Human Rights Policy, not HUman Rights;)
