"Never Give In" - The Union Of Bloggers
"Never Give In"
"This is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."
Winston Churchill

An Idea whose time has come ( unfortunately). In the culturally degenerated 21st century of "liberal fascism" as Jonah Goldberg has most accurately coined it. Freedom to express dissent and disgust with errant orthodoxies is under attack as never before...archetype fascists demanded uniformity of thought and detested dissenting opinion or criticism....just like their neo-liberal progeny.
Attacks on internet free speech (fair comment) has to end and the "speech fascists" who are pushing the attacks need a bloody nose (legally)...time to pool our monies and resources or be plagued by these philistine parasites until the Canadian internet political commentary resembles the politically cleansed soviet wasteland their "activism" typifies.
Well said Wild Bill, I find it funny that vexatious libel suits are launched against opponents in a "Free Speech" debate.
Some people have no sense of irony;)
My wife is Barbara Petty and I give in to her all the time. But hey, she sure is nice to an old fart. MUD
How pityful a soul that renders themself above the unwashed masses that IT threatens legal action in a free speech debate. How utterly pathetic this person is, a dried up soul turned to dust.
I'm glad you have Ezra watching your back Blaze, we need more Lawyers like him.
P.S. I aways get the word verification wrong, usually three times. Can I switch to coloring a picture or perhaps a math quesiton?? Just kidding.
"Can I switch to coloring a picture or perhaps a math quesiton??"
Thanks for that, Rose, I always get those things wrong too. Perhaps singing a series of notes after an audio cue?
And yup, Union of Bloggers is a great idea.
Good one! I will enquire about pitchers!
Just a few questions about this "union" to support free speech. I tried to ask them on Ezra's site, but oddly the question hasn't come out of moderation yet.
1) The paypal system for donations up and running, but so far, there is no information about exactly how the contributions are going to be managed. Or accounted for to the membership. Or actually used.
2) The governance structure is also “under development”. It would be useful to describe to potential membership to know how the process of setting strategic goals, policies and procedures for this new entity will be accomplished, and how we get to participate in that process.
I went to the “Join” page, which told me only that the "union" is “currently working out our terms of membership”, but that I can “sign up with details now, and we’ll contact you when we’re ready for you to join us!” But the only place to “sign up with my details” appears to be on the Paypal page.
In other words - I'm being asked to make a contribution to this non-registered “union” before anyone knows how this unstructured "organization" is going to spend and account for the money, what the terms of membership are, how this “organization” will be structured and governed, how its goals will be set, how its leadership will be selected, or how its members will participate in the development and implementation of those goals.
You swallow that, do ya?
balb,
I trust Ezra, so I sent him some money. Freespeechers are trustworthy!
You are welcome to join or not Balby, your choice.
Good answer, rube.
I'd like to, BCF, but I'm not someone who sends money off before I know what I'm buying.
As it states on the site, nothing formal has been set up yet. I would prefer a "loose affilliation" as I just can't stand meetings etc.
"nothing formal has been set up yet."
Except, of course, the part where you can send Ezra money right away.
So don't join, sheesh.
Balby all I can say is give it some time. It is very new, if you wish, volunteer yourself to assist with policy iniatives etc.
