Warman's rep goes to open court. Finally! I hope Steyn and Mclean's cover the whole trial ;-)

Not sure how much fun it will be but it will be informative.
If his reputation has been harmed, he will have to prove it and hopeful disclose sources of his employment, funding and income in open court.
If all defendants can have it dealt with in one location, it will make the March 25/08 hearings look like the child's play they were.
As Ezra has indicated, the sum of recovery he has asked for precludes sessions for discovery....this is a dodge to avoid those awkward questions put by defense attorneys. His testimony will be limited.
That tactic would indicate sneaking around guarding some deep dark damaging secret.
Regardless of the outcome, Warman's reputation is likely to take a further negative hit with this politically motivated suit and the ensuing media coverage. No publisher can be comfortable with Warman's litigious nature and hyper sensitivity to the published word....I can see them lining up behind the Post and publishing some negative opinion pieces.
I see Steyn and Mcleans as the venue to watch in getting the grit and tackiness of this out to the public.
Either way we win no question - plus - I assure more on Warman to come.
Looks like I chose the wrong week to be away from the blog. Will there even be a righty blogosphere to return to? I should be back at my post next week, try not to get sued out of existence until then.

This is not a knee-jerk reaction by Warman. According to Levant's post, Warman has been sitting on this. Picked this time and place to pull the trigger.

My guess is that he knows whats coming - that explains the rush. The noose tightens;)
He hasn't just attacked the bloggers with yet another frivilous apparent Libel suit he's attacked your supporters and fans like moi. He's not only opened himself up to an intense investigation he's opened himself up for total and utter ridicule. Ezra doesn't need to go to discovery all of us need to donate so he can hire a private investigator to dig through Warman's past with a fine tooth comb. I've done this in the past and it's amazing what people will tell a PI, if he's got nothing to hide then he shouldn't be worried should he?
Let's see what he's up to in his spare time, he's wasting the courts valuable resources and time I'm sure the judge if asked would think it's best if all the cases are filed as one Class Action Libel suit and then the dollar figure will go into the level where full discloser and discovery will be necessary.
I hate to say this but I want to see this asshole handed his ego back to him on a platter, he's the reason lawyers have such a bad reputation.

Doesn't make a lot of strategic sense to me. He already had a lawsuit going against Free Dominion - why not just up the ante and include his latest with them?
The NP apologized and withdrew their post. No real ground to gain there.
Ezra - wildcard in the mix. How does one shut up a guy like Ezra? Certainly not by poking him hard with a lawsuit.
SDA and FFF - independent blogs. Could have gone after them individually.
Going after everyone at once - MALS seems like a kamikaze scheme.
Unless someone else is footing the bill and providing resources. And waht would someone else's motive be to assit in this endeavour ?

Good points all 4 H, I think he underestimated his opponents being the twit that he is.
He had no choice - even if he tried to pick off one at a time he knew or suspected that a joint legal defense was being organized - it was a tactic that would have cost him a lot in time and money - even this Hail Mary suit will exhaust his lawyers.
He is hoping to escape with a moral victory, well he'll call it a victory assuming he wins and that is far far from a lock. I honestly think what set him off was the leak about his attempt to destroy the college Kids at McGill.
When Warmans boutique law firm of 3people see the array of talent lined up against them they will begin to think twice. Even if his money is coming from the CJC they don't have the pockets to manage this fight - not for long anyway. Donations are poring in as we speak so the good guys will have their fees covered and will also be endemnified against a possible loss.
So yea I agree it is Kamikaze mode for Warman.

You are right. What any law firm can't do is provide an equivalent to what the independent bloggers can contribute if/when the fur stands up on the back of their necks. Money aside, even if this is being funded some other way, it's that untapped talent, that digging, that research, that discussion and debate that arises from free market entrepreneurs.
They, contributing time, effort and gray matter gratis, is priceless.
Imagine - having every point, dissected, involuted, convoluted, turned and twisted and scrutinized under every light imaginable, along with each mundane and salient reference. Then to have each and every aspect researched to the minutest detail.
Look what happened on the IP Addresses ...
The boutique firm will travel along conventional logic of points of law and legal maneuvers. The blogsphere will deal in facts and truths.
What boutique law firm would want to face that ?

I believe when one attacks me I fight until the blood is dried, Warman doesn't play fair and he's use to the full resources of the HRC at his disposal. Now he's on Ezra's turf and when someone sues you for Libel you don't play fair you hire people to dig up as much trash and garbage against your opponent as you can afford. It sounds ugly but so is entrapment, and planting evidence etc.
How has Ezra or anyone Libeled him, the only conversations that have taken place have been rooted apon evidence from HRC transcripts, he's fouled his bed let him rot in it. The gloves come off when you get attacked, he's attacked the Conservative Bloggers, one can't fight the Warmans of the world using principles it just can't be done that way.
Will this get ugly, oh yea but who's going to be wearing the ugly hat? My money is on Warman, Ezra is a pro Warman is a two bit paper pusher at DND.
We'll find out who's backing him eventually and they too shall feel the heat they brought upon conservatives bloggers turned back onto them.
Four horses you are correct the Conservative Bloggers have thousands of fans at their disposal to research Warman's past, present and history, Warman might have three friends left but the HRC employees would be truly stupid to become involved in a PRIVATE CIVIL matter.

Lucy should have learnt from the Nazis and Saddam (not sodomm and Gamora) = open up too many fronts and the "Mother of all Alliances" (and even unnatural partners and travelling companions) is there to greet you.
The line is the sand has finally been crossed. Interesting as late yesterday I thought this issue was fizzling out but then - BOOM, LUCY is there to pour more Gas onto the Fire of Freedom.
Poor Lucy - not even a practicing lawyer and he makes other lawyers look even worse than they already do.
Still seems odd.
Lucy is sueing for being called...among other things a "Neo-Nazi" but yet has posted under a variety of IDs on Stormfront and other Neo-Nazi sites as well as other far right wing sites (and admitted it in Warman v. Lemire - which 'Poque Mahone' thought was such a slam dunk - he never even showed up for the majority of the time).
Surely there is more to the moth being drawn to the flame than is being let on.
Inquiring minds want to know only the truth that lurks in the darkness and loneliness of Lucy and self-googling for fun, pleasure and above all profit.
I think he knows what is coming with the privacy commission. He may also fear the Lemire ruling. Hadjis may come down on the unethical behavior of Warman and the boys and rule for Lemire in order to save the HRC's skin. Personally I think he just lost it when the McGill Kids said screw you. What can you say - Sucks to be Warman. This suit is a Hail Mary pass. Leaving Steyn out means the libel has been allowed to stand, he is not obligated to sue everyone but this will raise the Judges eyebrow.
I'm very curious to see what The Black Rod will have to say about this in the coming weeks.

If you want to put a stop to Richard Warman, simply counter sue him. When he shows up at the trial simply state you are moving for a Summary Judgement against him. It is all done in Admiralty, so put your claim in for 10x the amount he sues you.
