Just what kind of order can the BC Human Rights Tribunal make against a publisher?

Reading about this, I remembered that the Tribunal has, in fact, used its power to order a publication to print certain things.

Again, I have to direct people's attention to the Alberta press act reference. This is a SCC ruling that a lower provincial appeal court cannot overrule, let alone some mickey mouse local tribunal.

The SCC found that any provincial government body acting to force the press to publish something was ultra vires ( out of their authority) and that the freedom of the press in political and public commentary was so important that it couls only be regulated by the federal criminal law powers.

So essentially the BCHRT ordering the North shore news to publish something was out of their authority...why the NSN didn't tell them to piss up a rope and take the case to appeal in a real court using the press reference as a case, is beyond me...probably no money to do so...but Ted Rogers has the money to slap these petty provincial autocrats back IF they order the free press to print anything they've no burden to do so.

If the CHRC machine is permitted to operate as it has been operating, they can do whatever they want; they can try to force Maclean's to publish anything shari'a creep(s) want.

It doesn't take much surfing or reading to refresh memory about history and freedom-extinguished.

People went to jail. People sacrificed their livelihoods. People died in happy (and very unhappy) agony.

Do we really want to watch Sts. Perpetua and Felicitas in the arena again?

Already we witness a malignant narcissism (bordering megalomania) when we read that Barbara Hall wants Canadian journalism to be forced through her omniscience-omnipotence filter. As if Truth needs her personally experienced epistemotomy for delivery -- only to have it miscarried.

Thank goodness, some agendas of long-standing include death-to-life -- in abundance.

Don't worry Noel..this "narcissistic bureaucracy" won't extinguish the light of civil freedom while I still suck air...You can have my rights when you pry it from my dead cold attorney's hand.... ;-)
