Health Canada scientist gets $4,000 for 'hurt feelings'

OTTAWA - The Canadian Human Rights Tribunal has awarded a former Health Canada scientist $4,000 for "hurt feelings" after a supervisor's comment that he liked visible minorities was deemed to be racist.
When he was introduced to staff, Lachance told his audience that he liked visible minorities. An offended Chopra complained that the comment was a "deeply insensitive racial remark toward visible minority employees of the bureau." The tribunal concurred, finding that Lachance's comment was "offensive to Dr. Chopra and, by any standard, racist, even if some people in attendance did not find it to be so."

The tribunal chastised Dr. Chopra for asserting that every manager at Health Canada practices system racial discrimination, and every appointment in the past 20 years has been discriminatory. It said such sweeping assertions, made "without a proper evidentiary basis," undermine Chopra's credibility and "have a negative impact on the promotion of human rights."

so, "any standard" does not include that of those in attendance. God, I'd like to know by what wizardry these goons reach consensus on what is "racist". Or does the alpha bitch just mark her territory and force the rest of the group into line?
Luckily the article was from 03/07 so perhaps like most UN resolutions - it is in a file somewhere gathering dust.
What was worrisome though was the CHRC type of Communist/Marxist suggestions of supporting illegal detainees/immigrants and asylum seekers.
No where was there a suggestion that Canada should use every means available ASAP to DEPORT or otherwise assist in their REMOVAL back to their homeland.
Hot damn BCF...I think we have a precedent for our own "Cash Cow".

I'm with ls on this one....what happened with 'applying our laws' to deport those who - regardless of what race or 'ethnocultural group' they belong to - are in our country illegally???

Since all male patriarchal whites are oppressors and racists then such an insincere statement like that is hurtful to all visible minorities and all progressives . Yes, $4000 to the lucky winner. I wonder who foots that bill, the taxpayer, perhaps? But why just one victim compensated? There must have been many more present.
Does anyone remember when Dr Morty Shulman had his investigative show on city many years ago? It was something else.
Once he had a prominent "activist" on whose hobbyhorse was how terribly discriminatory and racist the Toronto Police recruiting policy was. The guy had a habit of delivering the verbal equivalent of a kick to the nuts and then sitting there with a little half smile/half smirk on his face daring his opponent to get into a "racist" comment jackpot. He opined that the height restriction was racist because it was impossible for his ethnic group to reach.
Morty must have been aware of this well used line because he had earlier phoned India and talked to the police chief of the former home town of his guest and found out their height minimum was even higher than Toronto's! But while the smirk disappeared at this news, the "party line" kicked in and he was soon back to complaining at full volume that Toronto Police were still racist.
What utter nonsense, this is what we pay taxes for.
We all must weep for a time, but keep fighting we can resurrect Canada.
I'm confused. The Greater Toronto Area is presently around 49% Visible Minority. So when they surpass the 50% mark does that make them the Invisible Majority?
And since being a non-visible minority is inherently racist, why bother with the Human Rights Tribunals? Here's an idea: Let's just impose an automatic racist charge on non-visible minorities (soon to be non-invisible Majorities) to atone for the sins of everybody everywhere.

Thank you for posting this. Human dignity is in peril these day's from monsters who see death as the solution to all the problems of human society. This type of insanity is just accelerating it. I predict an exodus of Dr’s from Ontario & latter Canada if this is spread to the provincial level HRC's. Obviously Harper & company agree with them & the thought police, as people are finding out to our mutual sorrow. I had hopes for him. Canada is becoming Zimbabwe if not there already. A one party 4 flavor voting socialist degenerating State. No free speech, no religious freedom, no private property rights. The night they stole our real flag was the day we died. Canada as strong & free is gone for a ride, replaced by Cuba of the North with a whip hand with all rights denighed.

We just have to start thinking of the HRCs as being like a game show.

I think the HRC could make a lot of money if they put it on TV on Saturday afternoons. They could do it like those big American shows I used to watch in the 70s. Lots of glitter and sparkles and the HRC commissioners could dress up in ruffle shirts and dinner jackets and black ties and go around kissing the female complainants/contestants, and Shirlene McGovern could put on a ball gown and turn around some illuminated blocks that say, "Hurt feelings for $5000.00"
Maybe the audience could get in on it too. We could buy tickets and once a week the audience could do a draw to see if a Christian will get publicly flogged that week for discrimination against homos.
It would be the most popular game show in the world.
Now thats an idea that could save the CBC!
