Canadian Human Rights Commission Participates in the National Remembrance Day Ceremony
Words cannot convey my disgust that this vile agency is allowed to defile the memory of our soldiers.
While it may be a little late to stop this travesty, send your MP an e-mail to communicate your disgust.
A good suggestion by Ezra - What does the Veterans Affairs Minister, Greg Thompson, have to say about this? Why not ask him?

Press Release:
The Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC) -- the unaccountable quasi-judicial agency that persecutes writers, publishers, pastors and even stand up comedians on the taxpayers' dime -- are trying to repair their lousy public image...
By insulting our honored dead.
Tomorrow, the CHRC plans to lay a wreath during the National Remembrance Day Ceremony in Ottawa.
According to their press release, the wreath is intended to:
commemorate the 60th anniversary of the United Nations'Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Funny, most ordinary Canadians see Remembrance Day as a chance to honor those who fought to preserve our freedoms -- not to commemorate a meaningless scrap of paper issued by a private club for dictators.
The CHRC's publicity stunt is especially galling considering how many Canadian citizens are now under life-time speech bans imposed by these 'human rights' tribunals, merely for exercising their God-given (not UN given) rights of free speech, assembly and worship.
Concerned Canadians should contact their MPs, as well as the Minister of Veteran's Affairs, to find out why this misnamed government agency -- which works to undermine human rights rather than uphold them -- is being allowed to desecrate the memory of Canadian veterans.

Denyse O'Leary - Letter to Veterans Affairs Minister Greg Thompson
Dear Mr. Thompson,
As a blogger who was forced to become involved in the ongoing battle against the infamous "human rights" commissions when friends were coming under assault, I am stunned to discover that the CHRC - target of a number of investigations for assault on the civil liberties of our citizens - is permitted to lay a wreath at the Remembrance Day ceremonies in Ottawa.
The Commission employs/uses people who actually post racist filth the Internet, if testimony under oath is to be believed.
My father was one of the few men to survive his squadron of Bomber Command in World War II. He was shot down on, I think, his 43rd mission but escaped to Gibraltar via the Resistance. (He burst into tears (very rare for him) when I showed him a photo of his flight graduation - all the men he graduated with had died.)
A couple of months ago, he phoned me, asking, "What is happening? Why is Mark Steyn charged? Why is Maclean's Magazine charged?"
I had to tell him that, as a blogger/journalist/commentator, I myself might not be safe. The problem is, no one can know who the CHRC or their provincial/territorial counterparts will attack next or why.
He said, somewhat plaintively, as he is nearly ninety - "It makes me wonder why we fought the war ... "
Please, Mr. Thompson, can you stop this travesty? Please try.
I realize that there is a good chance you can't. As a Minister of the Crown, you hardly carry the same weight as the "human rights" thugs - who can generate faux outrage at the drop of a hat. So the memory of the men who died will be soiled by this completely contrary association, and the rest of us must cringe.
But can't you at least distance yourself from these state-paid thugs? Preserve a bit of what my father's fellow airmen died FOR? Could you support a Canada that makes the Diefenbaker Bill of Rights - of which my father was so proud - meaningful again?

I could not agree more. This is outrageous.
They're trying to make nice; trying to pretend that they're just another legitimate agency of our government. This is how they think they need to act to get people to like them.
God it sticks in my throat.
This is perhaps the most hypocritical act I have witnessed yet by these bastards.
We've got a sterling hand-out in the making that with minor editing could be perfect for the audience at the wreath-laying ceremony tomorrow, the hand-out reaching exactly those we should wish to reach with the message of what the CHRC is about. This opportunity to break out of the Internet and into the lives of the greater public, i.e. those who make a real difference in the nation, "the people," is too good to miss.
If the BCHRC is attending here in Vancouver, we will hand out the page here to those who would wish to know what has become of the nation. No time to be shy. And if there are those who take this affront seriously, we will provide a place and time where they can follow up to discuss this further, at our next meeting at the library.
People do want to talk about these issues, but they feel isolated and powerless. We, in our very small ways, provide a beacon for the disoriented in this post-modern world. There is a place and a time to come to talk.
Love the hand-out. Great work.
Good plan Dag.
Were I in Ottawa, and thank God I am not, I would simply turn my back to Ms. Lynch as she brought up the wreath.
Handouts at cenotaph services are never in order. But five or ten people turning their backs on Lynch would be brilliant.
(And I note that the mere fact the CHRC feels it needs to be seen as honouring our veterans tells us they are losing. They have read the Moon report, they know that the CPC may well call for their removal from the regulation of speech. Now they are trying to "make nice". It won't work.)
As an ex grunt and lover of perogies, I find there actions leaving me with a rather sick feeling in my stomach.
"to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights"
Is that the same declaration thats being shit kicked by Islamist countries?
"universal values of dignity and justice"
Yup - some just steller countries who sit on the UNs "Human Rights" council.
No, I'm not suggesting anyone leaflet a Memorial Service.
When it's over, when the crowds are dispersing, then it's fair to pass out anything deemed responsible. Tact goes a long way.
Snubbing the CHRC for laying a wreath might well put off those who have no idea why anyone would do so to those laying a wreath. A bit of info for the way home might make some feel a right awakening and might charge them to attend more closely to the state of the nation. The hand-out in progress here is wonderful, and no one is likely to reject it if delivered appropriately.
Following up on it might well bring friends and neighbours to a cause as much worth struggling for as any in the nation's past.
I agree. This is truly outrageous.
It's Treason.
It wouldn't surprise me if some of our war dead ressurect and punch a few gatling holes into these Canazis.
Canazis - thats a good one;)
So what makes them think they can pretend to get all weepy about Old Canada one day a year while working to replace it with the Brave New Canada ASAP?
The sight of the CHRC laying a wreath for those who fought and died for freedom from totalitarianism will be truly ludicrous and a bit disgusting, really.
I have a simple request for an Ottawa/Hull citizen. After the ceremony and when the crowds disperse would you please remove the wreath and throw it into the river?
You would be doing a great service to the veterans and large section of the population.
You need not fear an legal action, after all it has been shown that urinating on a memorial carries no repercussions whatsoever.
This cowardly act of defiance, this pissing on the graves of our parents, this sacrilege of decency and honour, is the lowest blow yet.
They are raping and sodomizing freedom, they are raping and sodomizing Canada's thinking and writing. Now they are raping and sodomizing the dead, our parents. Now they are raping sodomizing our families.
At least the rats I know, there are some things they just won't do.
One wonders when they will start packing us into the trains, and who will fire the first shot in the back of whose head.
Please dear God, deliver us from the fangs of the evil one, and have mercy on us!
Kyrie Eleison!
Jay Currie said:

I say, were I in Ottawa, and thank God I'm not, I would simply punch Ms. Lynch in the face. And gladly get carted off to jail.
As it is, letters have been fired off to ALL of the MPs you provided a list for, BCF. Okay, so I'm American, and might be dismissed -- but I'm hoping every voice is at least paid attention to.
Thanks Eowyn!
How dare she use her civie position to further the advancement of the CHRC, she's not laying a wreath to honour past and present Military Members she's laying a wreath to honour an organization that has legally negated the rights of women, children and homosexuals in Muslim Nations. From my perspective she's honouring despotic Islamic Countries for stoning women who were raped, for sexually mutalating children, for catapulting gays off cliffs. That is what the UN has become, an arm of Sharia Law how dare she honour that barbaric man made system.
She defiles the memory and honour of all those who died for our freedoms and those placing their lives on the line in Afghanistan.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was December 10.
You are right, Wally she is grandstanding.
I like to think that we can become better individuals and happier for it by fighting for the good here. It's a challenge each of us as individuals can take up and carry forward. No point devolving into hatred of these people. We can have the single-minded determination to good just as well as Greg Felton can be a professional and profound hater. Or we can just try to equal him obversely even if we never get close to his depths. but what a challenge. What a great goal. What a great victory should we ever come close.
This is our war, though only begun and a long way to go, no final victory over evil ever to come but one we must wage regardless. I think we are blessed. We could, should we dare, make our ancestors proud.
Sent this note to the chap.
It has come to my attention that CHRC is planning to lay wreath at the Remembrance Day Ceremony.
Perhaps some person(s) made innocent mistake to let these enemies of freedom to participate.
This is highly incompatible since those that fought at the world wars were fighting for freedom as opposed to the CHRC that are agents of tyranny and oppression of freedom.
Perhaps your office should make it its task to end the existence of the CHRC.
Thank you
lev,
Snort...your last line had my beer hit my screen.
Ace.
My E Mail has been sent to the Minister of DND - with a note about "Lucy" and Jennifer's only armeded forces service being that of serving coffee and biscuits.
I also advised that I would openly boo her if it not an otherwise solumn and meaningful memorial.
This woman has no clue.I thought that she was just stupid and insensitive but it is clear that these qualities make her terribly dangerous.
Dag, you're right. Anger, however righteous, does tend to distract from the mission, sometimes. Thanks for the reminder.
We must take the high ground in what you accurately described as a war, albeit an ideological one. (That's the only kind worth fighting, if you ask me.)
It IS a huge challenge, but all of us whom I've seen posting here, and elsewhere, are more than up to it. I don't think any of us will rest until the last vestiges of the kind of ideological slime put forth by "human rights" people everywhere are wiped out.
I'm thankful BCF and others are staying on top of events as they happen, because I can't. But that doesn't mean I'm not in till the end, and plenty more like me!
God bless all veterans. It would take a lot more than the Lynch mob to ever diminish their sacrifices. But I'd sure like to stop her kind from pulling more wreath-laying stunts in the future.
In this post:
An Insult to our Veterans! CHRC to lay wreath at Remembrance Ceremonies
On Monday November 10, I’ve left a comment that included an email note that I have sent to the Veterans Affairs Minister Greg Thompson.
Well, yesterday a reply came where one of his spinmeisters absolved him from anything having to do with the said ceremonies.
See for yourself:
Thank you for your e-mail. As you know, the annual National Ceremony for Remembrance day is organized by the Royal Canadian Legion’s Dominion Command and they pay great attention to every detail of the event. Nevertheless, we invite you to write directly to the Legion with your concerns.
Richard Roik
Director of Communications/Directeur des Communications Office of the Minister of Veterans Affairs/Cabinet du Ministre des Anciens Combattants Government of Canada/Gouvernement du Canada 613-995-6264
So, now that they played it into the out, case closed and end of story.
Why is it that the population thinks of the politicians as low life?
Ouch Lev.
