Our officials did seek out some mainstream Muslim, Lebanese, and Arab groups in Montreal for a roundtable we are organising and a separate announcement we plan on making, but the group that issued the press release wasn't one of them. Presumably they got wind that they were never invited, and felt bitter. Pathetic."

Earlier today the Canadian Muslim Forum issued the following press release intimating that they were refusing to meet Jason Kenney...yea I'm sure he was real broke up about this.

The Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF) cancelled the Muslim Community’s meeting with Jason Kenny
(Montreal, March 29, 2009) In response to the call from the Coalition for Justice and Peace in Palestine (CJPP), quoted below, The Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF) is cancelling the Muslim Community’s meeting with Mr. Jason Kenny the Minister of Multiculturalism and Immigration. The meeting was originally scheduled for April 4th, 2009 in Montreal.
We, at the Canadian Muslim Forum(FMC-CMF), originally accepted this meeting, based on an approach from Mr. Kenny's office and his assistant, to raise our concerns about his actions that, to say the least, are promoting Islamophobia and Arabophobia.
Mr. Kenny’s position towards the Canadian Arab Federation (CAF) and his personal attack on the Canadian Islamic Congress (CIC) is an insult that has been added to the injury caused by the government's position towards the barbaric Israeli attack on the Palestinian people.
We, at the Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF), view Mr. Kenny's latest decision to silence opposition to the unjust war in Afghanistan and to the apartheid occupation of Palestine, by banning Mr. George Galloway, the Respected British MP, from entering Canada, as a new form of “McCarthyism” that all Canadians should stand firmly against.
We, at the Canadian Muslim Forum (CMF-FMC), are united with all other Quebecers and Canadian, refusing the attacks on freedom of speech and adding our voice to many others who already refused to receive Mr. Kenny.

My own, particular, phobia, is about Jackasses - religion or ethnicity don't come into it. I just love it when a group - usually with less than ten active members - cancels a meeting while purporting to speak for the "Muslim Community". This is when my Jackassophobia kicks in.
