I have no problem with the Toronto Star column. I manage all sorts of people with all sorts of backgrounds, and I find that being reasonably accomodating goes a long way. Some people have strict religious observances, or health problems, or family issues, or legal problems, or who knows what. Cutting them some slack likely improves productivity and loyality.

In fact, Muslims in my group have often brought in Ramadan baking. They can't eat it during office hours, but us infidels can.
