I want em gone; but that doesn't mean I don't keep an eye on them from time to time. Thursday, I heard Anna's compadre Carol Off interviewing Tony Berman on the CRTC al-Jazeera decision and the two came to the friendly conclusion that not only would a-J fill a niche in Canada now that other "progressive" news sources were not sufficiently financed, and so a-J will not be a source of competion for CBC, but that there should be co-operation between CBC and al-jizya.
I wonder if the esteemed CBC apparatchik knows that citations do not necessarily indicate agreement with the person so cited. I tried to explain that to a certain leftie blogger known as Saskboy a while back, but he was/is too dense to get it. A scholar who wants to criticize another scholar will "cite" his work in the process of the critique. Lots of citations may simply mean lots of disagreement.
It could also mean the old boys network among the commies that infest our universities is hard at work. In either case, lots of citations means diddly squat.
When I moved in with the woman now my wife, she still had a habit - ingrained from growing up in the rural Maritimes - of listening to the CBC every morning. She had an inkling that the hosts of the Toronto show were a bit pink (!!!), but old habits die hard. I - who had never listened to the CBC regularly in my life - would find myself hollering at the radio and going from dozy (not a morning person) to enraged before I'd finished my Raisin Bran. Didn't do much for my moods.
Finally, Michael Enright managed to say several things in a row so fantastically hostile to Catholics/Christians/the Irish/people who didn't live in the Annex that even she had to admit that it was less irritating to get the news from anywhere else than the national mouthpiece for liberal self-regard.

Cooperation? I suggest a merger, who could tell the difference?
It would be very interesting. A free-market model for “Little Mosque…” etcetera; the possibilities are mind boggling.
