Perhaps we should take our cue from the Swiss...
Barbara Kay - Toxic Classrooms
"...In 2001 Miriam started teaching at a school largely populated by children of refugees, mainly from Djibouti and Eritrea, countries where there are no Jews but where hatred of Jews is deeply entrenched in the culture.
During the academic year of 2002-2003 Miriam started to encounter anti-Semitic taunts from students, such as "Does someone see a Jew here, someone smell a Jew? It stinks here." When she reported this and similar insults to the principal, the principal did not follow up. Indeed, the principal seemed more concerned about the students' sensibilities than hers.
...The principal instructed teachers not to offend their Muslim students; they were not to look students in the eye, they were not to gesture with the forefinger to bid them approach and they were not to interfere with male students who were physically aggressive to male teachers.
During the invasion of Iraq, moments of silence were held in the classroom. Cultural presentations involved only Muslim culture and no Canadian content. Students were allowed to leave assembly during the playing of the national anthem."

Sometimes a minaret is just minaret and sometimes it's not.
This happened in Canada?
it's hard to believe .....
Yes I'm shocked that the National Post would publish such blatant lies;)
Where is P.E.T. buried?
I want to go spit on his grave.
You know PET is actually on record as having regretted what his vision of Multicult had turned into. Lefties and Libs never seem to think how their "ideals" will translate in reality.
They never do!
Good intentions are instant gratification for libs, it's all about the 'I'm a better person than you' factor..
If I brought a dangerous villain to come stay at your house, wouldn't I be partly responsible for any trouble?
What would liberals do without their self-satisfaction? It's frightening to even contemplate.
Sadly a lot of it is simply about "feeling good" or "looking good" without actually doing any good for anyone.
Until we return to the idea central to our 'Western society's roots' - the idea that a society is made up of individuals, that each and every 'group' is made up of individuals, and that the society is therefore best protected by safeguarding the rights of each and every individual (regardless of who they are or which group they may belong to) - our society is in danger from itself.
The corollary, of course, or safeguarding the rights of each individual equally is that we apply the laws to each individual equally.
nicely put, Xanthippa.
What the Swiss decision shows, I think, is that Europe is starting to acknowledge that someone can really only be 'welcomed' if they share at least some cultural values. Denmark is also waking up to this reality.

I can't for the life of me figure out what is wrong with being a racist when it comes to protecting my person and my country from the onslaught of what is THE most destructive and misery-causing element in the free world.
A minaret is purely a real triumphalist symbol of a regime that demands bondage for adherents, and death to all others.
"Killing me softly" is not to be found in their korny koran.
Multiculti was purely an imaginary triumphalist symbol of a regime that demanded bondage for adherents, and death to all others.
"Killing me softly" was not to be found in their liberal lies.
And now, what was, is becoming real.
Islam and Libslam, up a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g.

I'll never forget seeing a stretch of kosher shops in a nice area of Hamilton (perhaps too close to McMaster?) spraypainted with swastikas and insults. This was during the antifada. I was frightened and angry. I couldn't believe that this could happen in Canada of the 1990s. But it did happen. And there was an emergency meeting in the local synagogue. The speakers did not pretend they thought this was the work of some basement Nazi.

How sad Seraph, Hamilton has really deteriorated, the downtown is rather a desolate place now.
The more hatred allowed towards Jews. The more you know just how far we have bent towards the mad prophet & his generations of killers. All under the guise of Religion.
Its become plain by now even to idiots that Islam has no intention to be like the Chinese, Jewish , Polish, German, Italian, Irish, with others to live in cultural symbiosis. Creating a bigger Polity with similar goals. NO. They want Total control of us all.
Our Religions, apparel,customs.
In other words they did not come here for new lives but to bring the old here.
JMO
Minaret? A certain group in Ottawa occasionally referred to them as 'Scud launchers' ...
Cheers
VERY nicely put, Xanthippa and RevD.
"The more hatred allowed towards Jews. The more you know just how far we have bent towards the mad prophet & his generations of killers"
And there are still bloggers and HRCs looking at the Nazis in basements - currently attacking each other. Not at religious extremists nor Gangs with real power and money.
The good news is that the Swiss "Direct Democracy" will spread not only to Denmark, the Netherlands but to Germany, Greece and France especially. Perhaps even to NA!
The UK will be swollowed up by rising seas from their own self-created global fuzzy warming.
Some have pointed to the commitment to peaceful solutions by 90+% of Muslims in France and Germany but figure the remaining percentage out from a population of 5-6 Million in France and about the same in Germany. Thats a lot of ISSUES out there.
Steyn was dead on.
Sorry to be the one to point this out but this story has no back up. It's anecdotal. We shouldn't jump to conclusions unless this becomes a bit more than someone relating a story.
