Critical information has come to light indicating that Warren Kinsella, in an abuse of his position with the LPC, threatened to denounce the Canada Israel Committee to the Liberal Party of Canada if his demands, which stem from a demented & self-destructive personal vendetta against bloggers, were not met. Sources indicate that this attempt to strongarm the CIC lays behind the decision to terminate their relationship with Warren Kinsella, was it a mutual decison i.e. a forced or mutual decision to resign? We don't know. Stay tuned. Iggy will not be pleased. Nor for that matter will Warren Kinsella, but then who cares what he thinks.

The Hasbarah fellows are being charged with demonstrating without a permit, and three Jewish students fined $500 each. The Muslim mob did not have a permit either. The thing is, this is the most critical week because if the Hasbara fellows get banned (even temporarily as is being suggested) then they can't be present on campus to do their planned counter-activism against Israel Apartheid Week.

U.K. Professor Cancels talk at York University - Cites administrations failure to condemn attack on Jewish Students

I am Shalom Lappin Professor of Computational Linguistics at King's College, London, and I am currently a visiting professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto, where I am on sabbatical for the semester.
I was recently invited to give a talk on my research on computational modeling of grammar induction in the Colloquium of the Cognitive Science Program of the Philosophy Department at York, on March 25. I accepted the invitation with great pleasure. I received my BA in Philosophy from York in May 1970, and I welcomed this opportunity to return to my first academic home. It is therefore with considerable regret that I must now withdraw from this engagement in light of the York administration's handling of the attack on Jewish students that
took place on the afternoon of February 11.
The reports of this attack that I have read in both the Canadian and the foreign press (confirmed by eyewitness accounts that I have received) converge on a disturbing sequence of events. A group of approximately 100 students supporting the York Student Federation broke up a press conference organized by other students campaigning to impeach the YSF. This group then pursued approximately 40 of the students from the press conference, most of them Jewish,
to the offices of the campus Hillel, where the latter locked themselves in for fear of physical assault. The YSF supporters banged on the door and the windows of the offices, shouting threatening comments at the students trapped inside. The students in the Hillel headquarters appealed to campus security for assistance but received none. They then called the Toronto Police, who eventually arrived to escort them out of the offices, through lines of hostile YSF supporters chanting angry slogans and hurling insults at them.
To date I have seen no public statement by any University official on this incident, beyond the expressionon of an intention to investigate it. I called your office on Monday, February 23 to seek clarification of the administration's view of the attack. A member of your staff called me back today and graciously listened to my concerns. However, she was unable to do more than
reiterate the University's official position that the matter is still under investigation. Given that the incident took place two weeks ago, I find it odd that the administration has been unable to come to any conclusions on what took place. It is particularly remarkable that it felt no need to
release at least a general statement specifying that violence and abuse of any kind will not be tolerated on campus, and confirming that all students have the right to express their views without fear of intimidation.
The fact that the University has not taken up this assault with the students who launched it, nor acted to reassure the students who they targeted indicates a severe failure on the part of the administration to fulfill its reponsibility to sustain a campus free of physical violence and harrassment. Several of the Jewish students at York claim that the assault was not an aberration, but part of a general atmosphere of extreme hostility that they have been forced to contend with over an extended period of time. I am in no position to evaluate this assertion. But it seems to me that the administration is obliged to address the grievances of students who feel that they are being victimized, particularly in light of a significant incident which lends some credence to their charge.
I do not regard the ethnic identities or the political views of any of the participants in this event as of relevant concern. All sides to a controversial question have an equal right to be heard in a civil environment of tolerance and mutual respect. Nor do I see criticism of Israel as the problem here. I have frequently spoken out publicly against the policies of the Israeli government, most recently in a joint letter and comments critical of Israel's operation in Gaza, published in the Observer in January.
If one group of students is permitted to engage in violent harrassment of another without the decisive intervention of the University's administration, then the conditions for a free and unfettered exchange of ideas are completely undermined, and the primary purpose of university life is betrayed.
When I was an undergraduate at York in the late 1960s the University was home to lively political activity on a variety of issues. The Israeli-Palestininan conflict was one of these, and discussion was intense, occasionally heated. However, at no time did this discussion degenerate into systematic bullying, initimidation, or expressions of bigotry. Nor would the administration of that period have allowed it to do so. It is a source of great sadness to me that the current administration is either incapable or unwilling to insure the existence of a basic culture of decency, civility, and free speech on its campus. This culture is a necessary feature of any serious institution of higher learning.

Warren Kinsella is a liar, that we know, however he is also evidently in need of an intervention, so obsessive is his self-destructive hatred for Kathy Shaidle that he is blind to the fact that he consorts with anti-semites of the left in order to pursue his petty vendetta, all the while employed by the CJC. It speaks to the fact that the Jackal has so few real allies otherwise. This would be mortally embarassing for anyone of right mind, but we are dealing with the Jackal here.
Yesterday Warren Kinsella ran this piece in which he claims Ms. Shaidle - a staunchly Pro-Israel blogger is ok discriminating against Jews. See the screenshot below. This is how desperate the Lying Jackal has become. He now resorts to outright lies. To anyone not in need of an intervention or otherwise cognitively impaired it is plainly clear that Shaidle merely lends support to the libertarian stance that the market place of ideas will deal far more effectively with discrimination than any other solution. Warren may be either too stupid or too blinded by hatred to understand that distinction, but I suspect he simply chooses to lie.
You see Warren Kinsella is hurting because of his latest self-inflicted public humiliation. Steve Paikin of TVO's Agenda exposed just how impotent and poorly regarded the Lying Jackal is by the mainstream after Paikin laughed off Kinsella's demand to have Ms. Shaidle removed as a guest on The Agenda. See the screenshot below in which the Lying Jackal vents his spleen at Paikin for having completely dismissed the impotent Jackal's petty tantrum.

Later that same day, I received another email from Warren informing me that he was emailing the Minister of Education to ask her to pressure us to “unbook” Kathy Shaidle, and that if we didn’t, there would be significant consequences for TVO and The Agenda. He did, indeed, email the Minister.
Well, now we’ve got a different story, right? Now, it’s no longer a story about the appropriateness of our choosing Kathy to appear on the program. Now it’s a story about a well known Liberal Party operative threatening us (with what? We didn’t know) unless we did what he said.
That’s a very different story and as a result, we naturally refused to “unbook” Kathy. We do not take our marching orders on whom to put on or take off our television program from anyone, but most assuredly, not from partisan political operatives with personal grudges (Warren’s tangle with Kathy, I’ve learned, goes back awhile).
Poor Warren he has ditched a once promising career as a political bootlick, it's just sad now.

Response to Mr. Jason Kenney, M.P.
The Canadian Arab Federation (CAF) finds it deeply regrettable that Canada's Minister of Immigration, Jason Kenney, has threatened to cut funding to newcomer service agencies served by the CAF and has used the remarks made by CAF’s president, Khaled Mouammar while Israel was committing war crimes in Gaza, as an excuse to malign and intimidate Arab and Muslim communities who have suffered and continue to suffer from marginalization, threats and the muzzling of their voices.
We note with disappointment that this most recent attack on the CAF is part of a campaign waged by Mr. Kenney who has targeted and systematically vilified the CAF. In January 2008, Mr. Kenney smeared and stereotyped the Arab community during one of his exchanges with a Liberal MP in the House of Commons, and he described CAF as a racist organization in a speech in Bucharest Romania in June 2007. Mr. Kenney’s most recent attack on CAF came just 3 days ago at an anti-Semitism conference in London, England where he labeled the CAF and Canadian Islamic Congress (CIC) as groups that promote anti-Semitism. This characterization is slanderous and untrue on a number of levels. The CAF works with many Jewish anti-Zionist groups on a variety of projects. Furthermore, Arabs are a Semitic people, so Mr. Kenney's unfounded allegations and intimidating threats against the CAF misrepresent the organization and our community and work to inflame and divide Canadians. .
Since 1992, CAF's settlement programs have demonstrated a solid record of success that is available for any interested party to examine and review. These programs are thoroughly audited and have been praised for the efficiency and dedication with which they are implemented. Threatening to cut funding for these programs is a form of indiscriminate and collective punishment upon people who require these services. We wonder what motivated the Minister to issue this threat. If it stems from a disagreement with our position on certain political issues, we strongly believe that this constitutes an infringement on our freedoms and rights as guaranteed by the Charter. We have consistently sought to empower our community to speak its mind and participate fully, openly and unabashedly in the Canadian democratic process. Mr. Kenney’s comments serve to set this endeavour back. Is the muting of our voices is now a condition for receiving funding and support from our government? This is a matter of grave concern to all agencies providing language and settlement services to immigrants and newcomers.
Mr. Kenney's comments, whether intentionally or unintentionally, perpetuate negative sentiments towards Arab and Muslim Canadians. These come directly after the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) released a report stating that "Canada should strengthen its domestic violence laws and stop religious discrimination against Muslims…and do more to improve the welfare of its Aboriginal citizens".
We call upon the Harper government to adopt a zero tolerance approach to expressions of Islamophobia and Arabophobia (the latter of which is a form of anti-Semitism), in the public arena. The government must recognize Islamophobia and Arabophobia for what they are, pernicious evils that must be exposed, confronted and repudiated whenever and where ever they appear, evils so profound that they are ultimately a threat to us all.
The CAF will continue to provide its services to all Canadians and expects that funds will be unchanged for programs that we have implemented with excellence. The CAF will not be intimidated into silence and will defend the rights and freedoms of our communities as protected under the Charter. We will continue to combat racism and uphold the rights of racialized groups and human rights in Canada and abroad, as well as to vigorously expose the serious human rights violations perpetuated by Israel against the Palestinian people and its illegal occupation of Arab lands.

Calgary police are investigating a self-described “Christian activist” who’s been distributing flyers showing a local university professor’s face superimposed on a graphic sexual photo.
In 2007, Lund won a controversial Alberta human rights commission case against a youth pastor who, in a letter to a Red Deer newspaper, likened gay people to pedophiles, drug dealers and pimps. The recent flyers, which were distributed in communities near the university, describe Lund’s complaint as “homofascist” and “bigoted.” A photo on the flyer shows men having oral sex, and Lund’s photograph is used to block out the details.

"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming here today. My name is Noah Kochman, and I am chair of Israel Affairs at CFJS, the Canadian Federation of Jewish Students. I'd like to introduce Chelsea Sauvé, President of Hillel at Carleton and Daniel Ferman, President of Hillel at York.
I have some opening remarks, my colleagues will say a few words, and then we'll take your questions.
The Canadian Federation of Jewish Students is the national voice of Jewish students in Canada. We have an executive that represents a national body of members and affiliates of more than 30,000 students, who come from 40 campuses across the country.
We are here to talk about a longstanding problem, which has only increased in severity since Israel’s operation in Gaza. In recent weeks, CFJS has been fielding an overwhelming number of requests for support from Jewish students, requests that are coming as a result of a very disheartening and increasingly scary climate on campus.
This disturbing reality is part of a broader international trend: Canadians need to be aware that our campuses are not immune from the antisemitic violence and threats of violence that have become all too commonplace in Europe and Latin America over the last several months.

These are just some samples of the epithets that have been hurled at Jewish students in the last few weeks. These incidents cross any conceivable distinction between criticism of Israel's policies and outright antisemitism. They are, purely and simply, the most vile expressions of race hatred. They can enjoy no conceivable protection of academic discourse. They are expressly intended to silence debate, to shut down discussion, to intimidate those who disagree. And they are becoming shockingly frequent on Canadian campuses.
No student can learn and grow in an atmosphere of intimidation, harassment and hate. But, this is what many of our university campuses have become.
Today we are calling attention to the growth of an ugly campus trend that brandishes the banner of "academic freedom" while repudiating any responsibility that comes with these freedoms.
With increasing frequency and vitriol, our campuses are being turned into bastions of intolerance, bullying and intimidation directed by highly organized anti-Israel activists against Jewish students – both those attempting to stand up in Israel’s defence, and those simply attempting to attend their classes quietly. This has created a toxic and frightening atmosphere in which Jewish students fear for their safety.
We have received reports of antisemitic swarming of Jewish Students, confinement, verbal and physical abuse from Canadian university campuses in Vancouver, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Kitchener.
Public spaces on university campuses have been taken over by angry mobs of students pinpointing students of certain national or ethnic origin as unacceptable and calling for their ousting from campus.
Recently we have seen some faculty members browbeat or berate Jewish and pro-Israel students – in class, through email exchanges and public confrontation. On one campus, a professor used the term "nefarious" to describe a Jewish student club, and that professor took pains to publicly name and provide phone numbers of those Jews on campus he thought should be “outed” for their supportive views of Israel.
Posters on campuses have ranged from offensive to blatantly racist – notably at the University of Manitoba. Though administrators have taken steps to remove what they deem to be offensive, such posters have simply reappeared.
Students at Jewish cultural tables that contained NO MATERIAL WHATSOEVER about the Middle East – including one for Holocaust remembrance – have been harassed, received death threats, been called ‘dirty Jews’ and have been told to gather the rest of their Zionists and to get off campus.
And while university administrators and law enforcement have begun investigating the targeting of Jewish students on campus, especially those incidents involving physical violence, the hateful polarization of these campuses is not going away.
With me today are two students who will speak to you of their personal experiences.
Before I ask them to speak, I would like to express the following concerns of CFJS which we hope all Canadians share:
Hate and harassment of students for their religious identity, nationality, sexual orientation or for any views they may have is directly contrary to what our universities attempt to achieve and to what Canada stands for.
As Canadian citizens, we know that universities reflect the diversity that defines Canada. We grew up in a diverse, accepting society, made up of a wide array of peoples from a multitude of backgrounds. We cherish those differences as well as the shared values that make us all Canadian.
As Canadian students, we want our college campuses to be places where we can learn, analyze, and exchange ideas. The campus is supposed to be the most free and open environment that exists.
It is not reasonable to believe that all students and professors will agree on subjective political questions or other academic dilemmas. Indeed it is the openness of a university that is most conducive to discussing the toughest questions in an open, safe, and respectful manner.
The behaviour of some professors, as well as of some student and faculty unions, has given aid and comfort to those whose agenda is contrary to the basic premise of open and respectful debate upon which our universities depend.
When students are humiliated by faculty and silenced by other students simply because they hold a contrary view, the values of higher education are diminished.
When students of identifiable ethnic or religious communities attend school in fear of being harassed with racial slurs, shouting and hateful slogans, the values of the university and of Canadian society as a whole have been trampled.
Every Canadian has a stake in ensuring that universities maintain their mission to educate and open minds in environments that safely allow and encourage opposing views. We call upon our political and social leaders to insist that publically supported institutions of higher learning reflect the core democratic values of Canadian society. We ask all Canadians to condemn the racist intimidation that has become commonplace on our campuses, and to demand that our University administrations ensure that all students enjoy the personal and intellectual freedom to which they are entitled.
Intimidation and violence must be rejected as the means of handling conflict in this country, and most especially within our universities.
And we must not allow silence in the face of these events to confer consent.

Although the focus of the panel's work is racism, Canadian Arab Federation president Khaled Mouammar -- who was invited to speak at the news conference -- instead focused his comments on what he called the problem of private funding to universities.
Institutions are "susceptible to blackmail'' because private donors put pressure on them to "curtail and muzzle freedom of expression and freedom of speech,'' he said. Mouammar, did not offer any concrete examples when asked.

The current closure of Gaza limits provisions to 125 trucks a day; a minimum of 400 trucks are necessary. Even such limited aid has only been achieved due to the pressure exerted by Israel’s own allies including the European Union, the United Nations Organization and the U.S.A.

In an exclusive interview with Sun Media from London, England, where he is to speak today at an international conference on anti-Semitism, Kenney said groups are free within legal bounds to say what they like. But groups whose leaders say intolerant or hateful things shouldn't get taxpayer funding.

Recently Michael Ignatieff aide Warren Kinsella - who is apparently also employed by the Canadian Jewish Congress of all things, failed in his efforts at fascist style mob censorship. Kinsella, about the only one left, who revels in his own self-portrayal as some sort of "uber" politcial strategist made a determined attempt to do a cut and paste smear against blogger Kathy Shaidle, a bizarre personal vendetta that backfired.
What was remarkably ironic about Kinsella's effort were the number of Jew-Baiters, oops sorry "anti-zionists", assorted internet crazies, and Anti-Tarek Fatah members of the Liberal Party, who gleefully signed on as the always unwitting Kinsella's allies in the hope of censoring Ms. Shaidle, a staunch defender of Israel.
Politics makes for strange bedfellows, as do mobs I suppose. But for Kinsella's kind of course, a complete lack of scruples has bestowed upon him a blinding hubris to which all else is subordinate. A Saint Mary’s philosophy professor says it doesn’t matter that a pro-life speaker compared abortion to the Holocaust during his presentation in Halifax last week. What matters, he says, is that Jojo Ruba’s voice was silenced.
"I don’t want to defend what he said as non-hate speech because I think that’s irrelevant," Mark Mercer said Wednesday. "Even if he was saying ‘Black people suck,’ people who shout him down should be carried away."

And she is not looking just to curtail newspapers, talk radio and television news. Ms. Hall wants any new press council to have jurisdiction over Internet sites and blogs, too.

Among his more bizarre pronouncements Moon claims he found no evidence of personal malfeasance by CHRC staff during the course of his research - not surprising, it wasn't part of his mandate. The CHRT transcripts tell a far different tale, one of misleading testimony, evidence tampering and abuse of process.

University statement regarding Jojo Ruba presentation
The University remains committed to academic freedom, diversity of opinion, and supports open debate in a forum that does not put the personal safety and rights of our community at risk. There is a balance that must be maintained among all of these.
Last Thursday, Feb. 5, protesters tried unsuccessfully to silence guest speaker, Jojo Ruba, who had been invited by Saint Mary’s University students to make a presentation.
Protesters were asked to stop disrupting the event, but after more than an hour and a half, the presentation was relocated to a nearby location. Protesters were given the opportunity to ask questions and debate the speaker’s points, but they chose instead to shout slogans and prevented him from fully presenting.
Relocating the event, though regrettable, allowed the speaker to complete his presentation.
The University is currently reviewing the matter.

"My sources are for the most part second- and third-hand, but, subject to correction as I learn more, here's what happened at the talk Thursday night (and not Friday night, as I first thought): The police arrived a little while after the video on YouTube ends. They ordered the protesters to stop disrupting the talk or face arrest. The protesters left the lecture hall. (They might have continued to mill around, maybe making noise outside the room, but I have no confirmation of this and it seems unlikely that the police would have left already.) After that, Saint Mary's Conflict Resolution Advisor ordered the speaker off campus. Most of the audience followed the speaker to a nearby church where the session continued. So far neither the Conflict Resolution Advisor nor the university has explained why the speaker was ordered off campus. Nor has the university apologized to the speaker, the organizers, the audience, or the university community. In fact, the university has remained totally silent about the thing. Members of the Women's Centre at Saint Mary's think their disruption of the talk was a proper reaction to hateful speech. (They hold that comparing abortion to the Holocaust is to speak hatefully.) It is not clear whether the protesters intended to shut the talk down or just to disrupt it until they were ordered to stop; they are certainly happy, though, that it was shut down. As I said, this account is provisional; I'll correct whatever in it turns out to be inaccurate. Perhaps our president, Colin Dodds, or our academic vice-president, Terry Murphy, will have something to say later. I have no account from anyone who was there, and I don't know how to contact the speaker to get the story from him."
