Here's the thing Max, your little "gamble" was nothing more than a Liberal vote buying scam, a divisive, racist gambit imposed on the unwilling backs of Canadian citizens.

"Even Pierre Trudeau, the key architect of multiculturalism, regretted how multiculturalism had been warped to emphasize an immigrant's identification with his country or culture of origin rather than his assimilation of a Canadian identity. At a private luncheon with MPs in the mid-1990s, Trudeau was asked whether multiculturalism had developed the way he hoped. He replied: "No, this is not what I wanted."

Ezra on how far we've come
Ezra offers up his opinion on how the campaign to repeal Section 13 (1) has fared so far. Much has been accomplished I would agree with many miles yet to go. Lynch was let off far too easily during the Justice Committee hearing, too many unprepared MP's allowed her to bloviate boilerplate & half truths in reponse.
A second appearance by Jennifer is needed.
Well Gee B'nai Brith there's always the CHRC isn't there?
Jewish Tribune:Imam’s ‘troubling messaging’ called ‘incitement to hate’
Ooops sorry, I forgot; Jennifer Lynch & the CHRC have determined that Muslims calling for the death of Gays, "Homosexuals and lesbians should be "exterminated in this life" and that Jews "spread corruption and chaos on earth", and of Christians & Infidels that "sending our sons and daughters to the schools of the Infidels has devastating effects on their beliefs, their behavior and their character. For the children of Infidels are the most pervert children. At a very early age, they adopt the behavior of their parents " is just fine with them.
Well looks like B'nai Brith is outta luck I'd say, since the CHRC decided to give the Islamists a "Get Outta Jail Free Card". The CHRC has declared Islamist"victimhood" superior to all others and therefore the malicious mullah's win the use of the CHRC as their enforcer under Section 13 (1). I guess this is an example of that"matrix of rights" stuff Jenny made up in action.
But where can B'nai Brith turn to? What about the Ontario Human Rights Commission? Oops again! Tarek Fatah informs us the OHRC is already co-opted by Islamists: "if you're scratching your heads, reading the outrageous attacks on Maclean's magazine by Barbara Hall, ... let me share with you the news that the Ontario Human Rights Commission is itself infiltrated by Islamists, and I say that on the record. One of its commissioners ... is an admirer of Ayatollah Khomeini and has close links to the Canadian Islamic Congress."
Geez B'nai Brith are you and the Canadian Jewish Congress sure this whole "hate speech" Section 13 (1) thing is still a good idea?
...
Say isn't the Canadian Islamic Congress on side with B'Nai Brith and the Canadian Jewish Congress in their blind support of Section 13 (1)? Why yes they are, will wonders never cease, strange bedfellows indeed, I do hope the CIC are invited to testify before the Justice Committee hearings on Section 13 (1).
As I have stated previously the advocacy for Section 13(1) by B'nai Brith, the CIC and the CJC has nothing to do with "hate speech", but rather it is a battle to control political debate by opposing sides in the Arab-Israeli conflict.
I am saddened to see that the Canadian Islamic Congress and the Canadian Arab Federation were not invited to today's session. Their presence, comic relief aside, would highlight the perverse nature of Section 13 (1)'s support base which, other than the human rights cult itself, is limited to a few special interest groups whose true goal I suspect is to seek a means to further political agendas and specifically control debate on the middle east. For the CIC & CAF Section 13 (1) fits nicely with the Islamist campaign to institute "defamation of religion" as a sort of global blasphemy law. The CJC and B'nai Brith simply represent the other side of this front in the Arab Israeli conflict, each group hoping to enforce the law in accordance to its will and agenda, an engagement that is being fought by proxy via Section 13 (1).
Pity that the rights of all Canadians may well be sacrificed to satiate the Gods of Political Correctness and the appetites of craven politicians.

A Section 13 (1) Sausage In the Making
Update: We are informed that the clerk could not forward the information she received from Ezra Levant to the committee members. Even though the information was in her possession for some 18 days prior to today's session it was not possible to translate it in time.
Had it been business as usual today's Justice Committee hearing on Section 13 (1) would have provided the few wonks who might have cared with insight into how Special Interest Groups, Civil Servants and our Members of Parliament work behind the scenes to formulate policy affecting all Canadians. This assumes that today's hearing would have taken place at all, a doubtful proposition at best.
Today's session is special however and affords us an opportunity to witness all of these actors in the cold light of day, under circumstances they would have preferred to avoid if at all possible.
What do we have to look forward to? Jennifer Lynch of the CHRC, Mark Freiman and Bernie Farber of the CJC will present their justifications for the continued circumvention and erosion of Canadians fundamental right to Freedom of Speech and established criminal justice principles, notably due process. Richard Moon will hopefully expand on his expressed distaste for the "tone" of the public debate, otherwise known as democracy.
So expect the worst from them and even less of the Liberal and NDP committee members, after all Section 13 (1) was cynically born of the brokerage politics that hides behind the decayed mask of official multiculturalism and the need by politicians to be seen as "taking action" - otherwise known as vote buying. Section 13 (1) is legislation that brings visions of votes dancing through the heads of short sighted politicians giddy with the belief that minorities are homogeneous voting blocs. This will likely remain the case for our out of touch politicos who imagine advocacy groups are always representative of their alleged constituencies best interests and despite the fact that the campaign to rid Canada of Section 13 (1) has proven to be as non-partisan and grassroots an effort as any I have witnessed, garnering overwhelming public and institutional support.
Ezra Levant says Richard Moon made of mouldy cheese
Ezra has posted his rebuttal to Moon's latest apologia for the CHRC.
My thoughts - Moon is either uninformed, unable or unwilling to address serious matters of corruption and conflict of interest at the CHRC as uncovered from official transcript testimony made under oath by CHRC staff themselves. If Moon is unwilling to address these matters then he himself is as guilty of the "Spin" he accuses others of.
My comments at the National Post:
"Mr. Moon when an Ex-CHRC employee is still granted access to CHRC premises and in fact is allowed to instruct a CHRC investigator on the conduct of a case he himself inititated, well I call that corruption, as in "the CHRC is a corrupt organization."
Either you do as well Mr. Moon and are thus every bit as guilty of the "Spin" you accuse others of or your standards are perhaps simply too elastic for anyone to grant you consideration as a reliable source.
So which is it?"
...
"By the way Mr. Moon the statements I made earlier regarding the corruption of the CHRC are not mere allegations, the details of this uncomfortably cozy relationship - (uncomfortable to the public if not to a lawyer of your stripe that is), that existed between the Ex-CHRC employee and CHRC staff are contained in official CHRT transcript testimony. This is just one of multiple instances of abuse by the CHRC that have been uncovered Mr. Moon, all of them supported by transcript testimony.
You may read the official transcript here http://tinyurl.com/ygwev6k
I understand, unless memory fails, that the original mandate of your report for the CHRC did not include an investigation of the allegations of corruption that have swirled around the commisson. It may be that your Spin on matters is simply a case of being uninformed, lazy or willfully blind. You can answer that.
I suggest to you Sir that you set aside aside your obvious distaste for the CHRC's critics, and if possible also your evident elitist bigotry, and avail yourself of an opportunity to do so. You owe the public this responsibility if you are to have any credibility.
As a closing aside, you state, "Searching neo-Nazi websites for hate speech and engaging with individuals on those sites to determine their identity involves ethical challenges that should not be dealt with by private citizens"
You should have added nor by dimwitted CHRC bureaucrats, just ask Dean and Serenity. Do a google search on Serenity and the CHRC Mr. Moon, you owe it, both to yourself and all of us. Or better yet just ask Ezra;) "

Update 2: Ezra Levant says Moon made of Mouldy Cheese
My two cents: Mr. Moon when an Ex-CHRC employee is still granted access to CHRC premises and in fact is allowed to instruct a CHRC investigator on the conduct of a case he himself inititated, well I call that corruption, as in "the CHRC is a corrupt organization."

The problem for all these countries trying to feel their way forward on policies like hate speech, Nazir-Ali said, is that they have "thin values, not thick values." British policies to accommodate each special group that enters the country, he says, send the message: "We don't know who we are, we don't know who you are, let's live together separately."

I would like to personally thank all who commented and offered their prayers and wishes for her speedy recovery. Mom is recovering nicely from her heart attack and the complications that ensued. We are grateful that she is still with us. Mom has also moved in with us solely because we thought it novel to have someone critique our housekeeping on a full time basis;)
Of further note is that my article was brought to the attention of Toronto General. They initiated contact and I have now had several conversations with Ms. Sharon Rogers, Director of Patient Relations at the University Health Network of which Toronto General is part. Informally Ms. Rogers and I examined the chain of events outlined in my post, yesterday she got back to me with her findings and resolution.
The short version is, as I am happy to report, that TGH will be implementing a new ER policy that will force "ownership" of a patients treatment on the department that initially dealt with them. This policy will obviate the type of communication breakdown that occurred in Mom's case.
Furthermore the Agency Nurses on duty that evening will no longer be engaged by Toronto General Hospital.
I would like to extend my thanks & appreciation to both Ms. Rogers and Toronto General Hospital for acting so decisively in this matter. Sometimes you really can fight "city hall".

Well I wonder why?
"As for girls and school then this is a decision that their parents should make. Does the human rights commission propose that they be physically forced to go to school even if they and their parents do not want this? Islam makes clear that all girls should receive a basic education and a more thorough education in Islam. It does not state that they must be made to go to schools, especially when those schools contain all kinds of haram. If the human rights commission where really concerned about this then why not push for schools which are completely segregated and where the pupils can practice their Islam in full and not be exposed to haram things such as music and dancing."

Canadian Centre for Policy Studies launches Free Speech petition
From: Joseph Ben-Ami
October 15, 2009
As you know, freedom of speech is an essential characteristic of a free society. In Canada, however, this freedom has been under attack in recent years under the pretext of protecting and promoting human rights. Laws that prohibit the free expression of opinion undermine the very foundations of a free and tolerant society and are, therefore, illegitimate and must be abolished.
The Canadian Centre for Policy Studies has just launched an online petition calling on lawmakers at all levels of government in Canada examine legislation within their jurisdiction intended to protect and promote human rights, and to remove those provisions that prohibit or otherwise limit the free and sincere expression of opinion.
Please take a minute to sign this petition yourself and email it to your friends and family for their signature as well. You can do so now by clicking on the following link or by cutting and pasting the url into your browser. You can also post the link to social networking sites like facebook or in any forum you regularly visit.
Let’s see how many signatures we can gather on this important issue.
Defend Free Speech In Canada
We the undersigned call on lawmakers at all levels of government in Canada to:
A) Examine all legislation within their jurisdiction intended to protect and promote human rights, and
B) To amend said legislation to remove those provisions that prohibit or otherwise limit the free and sincere expression of opinion.

Dear Blazing Cat Fur,
Hi there, how are things going lately? I was a former occasional poster at jihadwatch, under name maxwell46&2; as a grad student I've been far too busy to post regularly but still check it on a daily basis. I've gotten a great education about not only Islam, but also about Middle Eastern history as taught before what Hugh aptly calls the "Great Inhibition", and about the cultures of the different racial groups in the Islamic World. Though I do not at all thing they;re correct on everything regarding the Muslim World, nonetheless I've learned a huge deal from Robert, Hugh and the other posters, including yourself.
Your site of course is one Robert Spencer links to, and looking through your site provided me with lots of additional info about thge current attempts by Islamists to subvert North American, violently and nonviolently. As a result, I had always wanted to know but never did get around to asking you. First off, where did you find out about Jihadwatch int he first place? I found it by accident; one day i was searching Iraq war stories, came across Jihadwatch from an article they posted randomly, clicked on it and have been visiting it daily since. Did yhou find out the same way, or from word of mouth?
Also, how has your general view of muslims as a people changed since Jihadwatch's tenure began. Spencer often insists Muslims should not be seen as a monolith and Islam should not either, and that he does not hate Islam but rather finds it fascinating, hence his years of studying it. Many posters at JW feel otherwise obviously-what about you? If you comne across, say, a Pakistani, Muslim Arab, Bangladeshi, Bosnian, Albanian, Indian Muslim, Iranian Shia or someone else who identifies him/herself as Muslim, whatr is your first reaction? Is it, what the hell are you thinking, why are you following this asinine cult? You give support to Al Qaeda and other terrorists simply by following Islam? Or is it more of an interest, as in, what exactly benevolent do they see in Islam and if they are good people, are they genuinely Muslim? And if not, what happens if they become so?
It's indeed interesting that out of the 1.2 billion Muslims-which we must face is a huge number, there are many very smart, upstanding people in this group who look at the Quran, Hadith and Sira and see genuine beauty, wisdom and tolerance in it. Do you think it's due to mental defficiency, actual brainwashing or self denial? Sijmply a radically different interpretation that sadly not enough Muslims follow? Or simply being severely misguided by Imams who may not understand as much as they think about Islamic texts? The best case scenario is that the interpretations of the Quran, as outlined in the blogging the Quran series on JW, are not the sole interpretatrion by Muslims.
Interested in and response you may have,
Sincerely,
Maxwell1313/Maxwell46&2

From the Department of Nothing Better To Do...
At Costco today I purchased my usual supply of the evil weed. Something struck me as odd about today's transaction however. It wasn't the nanny curtains mandated by the nanny state; we have all gotten used to this silly intrusion. No today I learned the Nanny State has inserted itself into yet another segment of the purchase process.
Typically I would approach the wicket, and being a regular the Girls staffing the Tobacco Prison would have my order pulled and on the counter ready to scan faster than I could pull out my Costco card. No more will I know that simple pleasure. Today I noted that my order was pulled but placed on a table behind OZ's curtain. The clerk then scanned the items - behind the curtain. She seemed very concerned that the items remained hidden. But from who and why?
I asked her. "It's the law now, imagine and we live in Canada too".
Yes we do.

TORONTO, October 14, 2009 – The Catholic Civil Rights League today commented on reports that as many as 75 per cent of Quebec’s medical specialists would be favourable to the legalization of euthanasia in certain circumstances.
The survey, which did not address assisted suicide but did ask respondents’ views about euthanasia as an aspect of end of life care, found that most would accept some legalization of euthanasia even if they would not use it in their own practices.

Arguments.
"There is alot of stuff available on the internet that was once unavailable, except for those willing to dig through a library. It can be packaged, activist fashion, puffed like a truthy media story, and fed to those willing to eat it. Questions that question the actual number of Jews fed to the ovens. Revelations about war atrocities. The Jews who escaped by buying their way out, and the Jews who worked for the National Socialists in the camps and thus survived (Kapos, the krauts called them, Kapos). There is much rich compost for the discerning activist seeking to prepare the Israeli’s for Masada the sequel, much as they prepared America for 9/11, the sequel to Pearl Harbor. No, the animus against Israel is deep, well-edumacated, and puffed in the media.

Canada, Not an Imperialist? Think Again!
“Canada, not an imperialist? Think again!” that is what he started his speech with, that one should consider Canada as an imperialist too. Apparently, given the information that Canada is a U.S. follower, which is of course because of its vital economy-wise dependence on America, Canada seeks to attract America’s content.
This reflects itself when Canada, with its anti-Muslim hostility, helped the U.S. with military forces through Canadian Navy in America’s invasion of Afghanistan. Canada has also pursued a very pro-Israeili policy. Imam Zafar Bangash cited many critical instances of Canadian oppression on minorities especially Muslims."

Halloween Hijinks! Canadian Human Rights Tribunal conducts ghost tour of Portage la Prairie
The wheels of justice turn slowly and sometimes they just fall right off.
Despite repeated unsuccessful efforts to contact the parties involved and despite having received no confirmation from either the plaintiff or respondent that they could actually be bothered to attend the scheduled hearing the CHRT decided to pack its bags and junket out to Portage La Prairie anyway. Guess what? No one showed. Case dismissed.
Oh heck who cares, it's just your money.
What was the motive behind the CHRT's decision to convene the "Hearing no one could be bothered with"? A junket for a homesick prairie kommissar or just the opportunity to sample the good life in the "Paris" of Manitoba? Perhaps the promotional video on the municipal web site offers some clues, among other things to occupy your time in Portage you can "drive on a straight highway", "operate heavy farm machinery", or "get run over by freight trains" and that's just the first 30 seconds or so!

Dear Mr. Lemire,
Thank you for your request.
PEN Canada has a clear and long-standing position on the unconstitutionality of Section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act, which can be found on our website, www.pencanada.ca
As an organization, we are not in a position to undertake interventions at this time.

Is Jennifer Lynch a tone deaf witless hack?
Yup pretty much.

Cato Institute: Free Speech, Hate Speech, and Canada's Section 13
Much like the Megan Meier Cyberbullying Prevention Act, Section 13 is clearly well-intentioned. No one likes people who say cruel or hurtful things, whether on the Internet or anywhere else. Neo-Nazis are disgusting, and it pains even me to have to defend their rights. But a free society is different from an unfree one precisely in that free societies allow distressing speech to take place.
The other option, in which the litigious have undue power over all of us, is more distressing still.
