Whoa. Um considering the UK has the highest crime rate of any Western country I don't really think IBM should be boasting that they use this 'predictive' software. And again I say: whoa.

Gizmodo likes to be seen as Progressive and politically edgy. Unfortunately, they tend to miss a few details in building the story: the system cited was probably based on the kit sold to the US govt for its census in the early 20thC. And that IBM has continued in that business through to the present day.

Generally, the site has problems with events in the previous century. Apparently they see Howard Zinn as their guide.
