This much we now know - a formal police report has been filed in this matter, we'll have to wait for the 1st MSM report, which I understand will be the Ottawa citizen for more detail. Nick Bergamini is the VP of Student Issues at Carleton and posted the following account on his Facebook page, which was picked up by Take Back Your School.
"...We stood our ground. Quickly we had three guys around us. We were able to push them away. As the cowards that they were, they retreated. Then I heard, shouts of "Open the trunk!" One of them opened the trunk and I saw glistening in the street light the reflection of a 12-inch machete. "Fucking Jew," he shouted. I began to run for my life as he was only 5 or 6 feet away. I ran, and as I looked back, I saw the long shiny blade slicing through the air about 12 inches from my neck. I ran as fast I could and, thanks to my grade 9 track and field training, got away.
People who were around the scene said the blade came within inches of my neck. Now, the debate on campuses has reached the next level. In this country, people are no longer safe if they support Israel. But you know what? I will never take back my beliefs.
I support Israel 100 per cent."...

I'm guessing we express surprise at this sort of thing because, in our recent, younger days, there was this notion afloat that Canada was a refuge from Islamic aggression. You know, that terrorism reported from far-away places, that ugliness whose immunity was Canada.
We didn't notice our governments opening our doors wide, saying, "Welcome!", to the multitudinous cultures of exciting diversities. We didn't notice the words we used, the air we breathed, even the places we worshipped in, soaked us with the idea that our Way could never be better than their Ways. Canada was a place of peace and humility; how dare the evil of arrogance or the vigilance of Liberty remove us from the Trudeaupian haven destination.
We forgot Judaism and Christianity or Conservativism are journeys: like Democracy.
We forgot that Islam and Liberalism are destinations: like Totalitarianism.
Even though poppies grow in Flanders fields, we forgot.
And so they came, in droves, through those open doors. They became citizens, they are becoming citizens, and they will continue to do so. But we forgot old ways die hard. We forgot the depth of loyalties. Our laws became crafted to satisfy their dreams, even our diversity dream.
We forgot what vigilance is.
And so, the enemy is here. The Canadian Hate-Rights Commission defends them, and makes sure they stay.
The sound of breaking-glass, machetes in the night, free-speech banned, are mere, muted ticking sounds of that inevitable clock. The history books tell the stories of similar clocks.
But Summer's coming, there's painting to do. Soon it'll be seeding time. Cruise ships are waiting. And iPhones will have version 4 OS available. Will there be an election? Will...? What...? When...? How...? And...?

This shit does NOT belong in our country
This is one, if I may say so, isolated incident, in one city in Canada. this is not a full-blown intifada as we see in so many nations in the Modern world. This is not France, Belgium, or Britain where anti-Semitic terrorism on the part of the Muslim population is common-place and nearly acceptable, especially among the Left. This is a minor incident involving a couple of young men on the one side and a small gang on the other. Were it not for the identities of those involved it wouldn't rank with a brawl in a parking lot of a tavern any given night. So, I can't see us becoming hysterical and flapping our arms in a frenzy over it.
What I can see is this becoming a harbinger of more and worse to come. That if Muslims are arrested, they might face a judge, act contrite, be scolded for bringing their cultural habits to this nation, habits so readily excused on compassionate ground by sympathetic humanitarian reformers who feel that both sides are wronged, that neither side is right, that all should be forgotten and kiss and make up. That the Left will side in whispers with Muslims who attack fellows on the streets, sucking up to the "oppressed," claiming solidarity and encouragement in the struggle against "racists," and so on. And then next time some poor kid might even lose his head in a jihadi attack, also excused as homeland troubles brought to these fair shores. A Royal Commission, perhaps, to solve all problems, maybe a basketball curt in the neighbourhood community centre to ease the pressures and frustrations of being "Other," being victimised by Canadian culture, and ya ya.
Inch by inch till the sacred months are over, and then to smite at the necks of the infidels, to cut off even their finger-tips till there is blood running free in the streets, all of it a matter of "fascist" provocation on the part of the Right Wing, the neo-Nazis, the Christians and the Jooos.
It won't happen overnight, and not next month, maybe not next year. but it's not going away, not now, not after 1,400 years of Islamic Jihad against the world, against Dar al Harb.
No, this shit shouldn't happen here, but it shouldn't happen anywhere; but it does, and this country has less of it than most. For now. thus, this is the time to become serious, at long last, about organising against jihad.
Every time I look in the mirror I see the smiling face of Jean-Paul Marat, medical doctor, mathematician, and over-all nice guy like me; a man who eventually lived in sewers, who wrote inflammatory prose in papers, who wrote, before he became the leader of the Terror, "If we had killed 10,000 before, we would not now have to kill a million."
If this minor incident shouldn't have happened, then try to make sure it doesn't become worse next time due to inaction on the part of those motivated otherwise toward order and good government.
