Everybody Draw Mohammed Day Redux
While EDMD has to be counted a success I see it was too late to prevent the dhimmitude of the "Ass-ociation Of Canadian Editorial Cartoonists".
"The Association of Canadian Editorial Cartoonists said that the cartoonist Norris should have really thought about the consequences of her actions before starting this whole debacle.
“She was trying to be controversial for the sake of being controversial,” said the association’s president Graeme MacKay."
Gee what fortitude, now I see why I can't think of any "Canadian Editorial Cartoonists" of note.

Uppierdate: An Abandon Facebook Day? I'd go along with this if it's proven FB dropped the EDMD page, as of this writing I have yet to see that confirmed.

I'd say that pretty much describes current 'reality TV', which is not reality at all, and the apprach to 'reporting' taken by the majority of traditional TV & print media. If it is not controversial, they ask: 'can we make it controversial? How can we spin this, give it legs, etc"? ( Think Cdn Afghan prisoner dust up)
So Molly Norris was doing something pretty normal for our times and the nitwits at the editorial Cartoon Ass would all be out of jobs if they did not embrace 'controversy'. Their job is to embrace a news item and present it visually; it is art, and as such cannot withstand over thinking otherwise the creativity will quickly evaporate.
Having said that, the editorial cartoonists are showing their dhimmitude, censoring themselves and are clearly politically correct bed wetters.
Facebook's behaviour regarding the Everybody Draw Mohammed Day page was the straw that broke this camel's back. I deleted my account. See:

I would certainly go along with your idea for an Abandon Facebook Day if it is proven they did indeed drop the the EDMD page.

Wasn't receiving death threats the whole point of this exercise? To spread the risk so wide that it would overwhelm the targeted Islamic bullies, and make it impossible for them to respond? Islam=Death Threats just has to be accepted now as a tautology, and we have to act accordingly. Norris seems surprised and dismayed by this turn of events, which surprises me - how could she not think that this would happen?

Viacom censored South Park because of Muslim death threats.
"Draw Muhammad Day" signaled a fearless resolve to resist terrorism. Participants used free speech and replaced a benign Muhammad teddy bear cartoon with thousands of more demeaning depictions of Muhammad. This indicated that Muslim threats are as impotent as Allah.
