I read his biography in elementary school it was in our library- The Sword and the Scalpel or something like that, talk about your hagiography and this would have been within a few years of the "cultural revolution".

Only in Canada, eh? Can you imagine Mao's army doctor being hailed as a national hero in, say, the U.S.? No way, Jose. Not even in Obama's America.

Not a word was ever mentioned about the horror of his rule. I even did a book report on it. Granted we had a couple swingin sixties young teachers back then, pretty rad for a Catholic school.
