This must be what it felt like in the late Roman empire. Everyone knows what the problem is. Everyone knows we could deal with the problem by doing what our fathers and their fathers back to the founding of the Republic knew to do.

But the civil service and its allies will do nothing. We know they will do nothing. We know they will do nothing, not even so much as fiddle, as their families murdered around them.

So in exhaustion and disgust we lie about for what remains of the day.
