My Muslim patients used to be pleasant and religion was not discussed...

"I am a physician in practice for twenty years.

I am also Jewish. I have never hidden this from my patients.

Not too long ago, I had a Muslim lady, wearing a veil, bring a young child to me. The patient had been having long-standing bowel problems and was losing weight. No other physician had been able to help.

In one visit the problem was solved. The mom called to make an appointment for me to see her other young child who also had a health problem that other physicians had been unable to help.

Before I saw the second patient the mother sent me a long e-mail. She announced that she had joined an international effort to boycott anyone, group or business that supports Israel. She wrote that if I support Israel she would no longer allow me to care for her children. She went on at length about how the Israelis are oppressing Muslims and are criminals who must be brought to justice.

I replied that I do support Israel as a Jewish state. I added that I question the wisdom of any mother who would deny her children quality medical care based on her politics.

She then sent me a short email saying that I am arrogant and that the real reason she will not return is that her kids hate me.

In twenty years of practice caring for people from many backgrounds I have never experienced such a situation.

My Muslim patients used to be pleasant and religion was not discussed. However, in the last few years something has changed with many of them. They are now demanding that I act according to their view of things or be punished in some way.

This ideology is demanding power and will never accept "No" for an answer."
....

Perverse as this story may appear it is not the first instance I have come across, Dr. Sion Houri of Israel's Save A Child's Heart foundation related a similar tale of parental fanaticism and abuse. The name, location and practice specialty of the physician involved have been withheld for obvious reasons.

Update: Barbara Kay writes in response - "I think it would have been very interesting if he had replied to her query, "I do not ask my patients what their politics are and I do not think it approrpriate to discuss mine with my patients. It is my job to offer the best professional service I am capable of." Period. He rose to her bait. She had no right to put him in that position. If he had said that and she dropped him as a doctor on suspicion, then she knows she is guilty of pre-emptive racism. This way she feels justified - that she had a "reason" for not availing herself of his servies - and he "enabled" her to feel that way. I don't blame him; his response was instinctive, but this should be a warning to other Jewish doctors that if they are going to lose Muslim patients (and clearly this one is no loss at all, although it is tough on the kids), then they, the Muslims, will have to take ownership of their own bigotry."

The Doctor responds to Ms. Kay: "I knew what she was up to and I wanted to let her know that I am proud to be a Jew and a supporter of the Jewish state. I will never be polite in the face of Muslim intolerance or bullying. The people who act this way are cowards at heart. They are bullies pure and simple. I wanted to let her know what I thought and I did. I would not handle it differently if I had to do it again. Yes, I feel so sorry for her kids. The little girl was incredibly sweet and we really bonded during our visit. I spent about 1.5 hours with all of them because I wanted to make sure that she was on the right track, health wise. I also liked the mom and still do, politics aside.

I went into my profession to help people, regardless of their opinions and beliefs."

There are a lot of Jewish doctors out there, and I'm betting that a good number of them didn't study for countless years to be insulted by their patients. This might be a case of Muslims self-selecting themselves out of the population - in a less obviously explosive manner, or course.

Blazing Cat Fur  – (5:34 PM)

That's one way to cull the gene pool.

Dag  – (5:57 PM)

"I am also Jewish. I have never hidden this from my parents."

Then I thought, "No, I must have misread that."

Flea  – (6:15 PM)

It's all happening again.

Tim Johnston  – (6:35 PM)

terribly sad story. poor child.

Blazing Cat Fur  – (7:09 PM)

You're right Flea it is happening again, from the the BDS mongers to the IAW louts, the Brownshirts are on the march.

It is a sick spectacle Tim.

ironbridge  – (7:17 PM)

The phrase "too stupid to live" is usually just a rhetorical flourish. Of course, they probably would have had to switch doctors anyway once one of the female children reached a certain age....

Lisa Graas  – (7:29 PM)

Barbara made sense up until she used the word "bigotry". The doctor wasn't guilty of bigotry. He just made an unwise decision to discuss politics. Barbara confuses disagreement with hatred, a common mistake on the Left.

Blazing Cat Fur  – (7:35 PM)

Hmm I'm not sure she referred to the Doctor in that instance. One thing about Barbara she is definitely not "Left";)

Incognito  – (7:42 PM)

@rick McGinnis "This might be a case of Muslims self-selecting themselves out of the population"..

unfortunately not. at their rate of propagation, they will never run out.

And Barbara was referring to Muslim bigotry, which is far worse than ours.

They are definitely getting more aggressive and demanding, and my colleagues seem to think they deserve it, all in the name of freedom of religion. then again, people in the arts aren't always the most savvy of people.

Voltaire's Ghost  – (7:45 PM)

There is a kind of Darwinism at play here. People wrapped up in their bigotry are going to inflict subservient roles on themselves and their children as they insulate themselves from everything that doesn't conform with their hate-ridden view of the world.

Not much difference here from the morons who name their children "Adolf Hitler" and "Aryan Nation" Campbell. Sadly the children suffer for having imbeciles as parents, but in one way or another that's always the case.

I don't know of any doctors in Ontario that are suffering from a lack of patients, so this one probably feels guilty anout what may happen to the child. Barbara has a point in that an outright refusal to discuss politics may have been a way to go, but the mother sounds like an obnoxious nut, and a problem that was waiting to erupt, so from a practical standpoint, the doc is probably better off not dealing with her.

By the way, BCF, without asking you to reveal your sources, just out of curiosity, can you tell us which city this came from?

Lisa Graas  – (7:52 PM)

Okay, I missed the part "the Muslims" in "they, the Muslims"...so I retract what I said on that. She is correct in her analysis, I think.

Tim Johnston  – (7:59 PM)

I think Voltaire's Ghost is right. The doc is better off. The bigots can go and find doctors who conform to their own worldview. The patient in question has every right not to be treated by a specific doctor, but to force him into such a position is a form of bullying a professional person should not have to accept. I wonder is a Human Rights complaint in order??

The woman could have quietly crept away, but instead chose to make an issue out of it. Such patients - or parents of patients - are nightmares to deal with generally, and the doctor is truly better off without her.

Blazing Cat Fur  – (8:08 PM)

I can't reveal that Voltaire, even that broad a detail. It was a promise.

Voltaire's Ghost  – (8:12 PM)

Of course, if the doctor turned out to be a Boston Red Sox fan, I could see how that would be legitimate grounds for dumping him..

(just kidding)

Flea  – (8:12 PM)

I challenge anyone to find an arts or "social science" tenure track position at a Canadian university filled by an open supporter of Israel in the last ten years.

Welcome to my world, doctor. Anyone who thinks their job is going to be exempt from these sort of demands should think again.

Roz  – (8:26 PM)

I am guessing she does not have a cellphone or a computer at home either...what an ignorant woman.

pst314  – (8:45 PM)

Too stupid to live? More like too evil to live.

And Muslims wonder why so many people despise them.

David  – (9:10 PM)

If the doctor is in Ontario then he has a positive obligation, under threat of quasi-criminal charges, to report this mother to the appropriate authorities, as obviously she is neglecting her children. While it is likely that PC Childrens' Aid would do nothing other than admonish the doctor for not being sensitive to the mother's cultural heritage (i.e. a blind hatred of Joos) he should still do so.

scream  – (9:23 PM)

Golda Meir was so right all those years ago: "There will be peace when arabs love their children more than they hate the Jews."

Gary Rumain  – (10:09 PM)

Just let her sprogs die. It will save the world a lot of trouble as they'll only group up to be jihadis.

Kaffir_Kanuck  – (10:12 PM)

I can almost fit a quote from my next piece harpooning the Red Star’s Sidiqqui’s latest tripe, “…the twisted asymmetric logic of a Mohammadian who insists there will be peace when all convert to Islam, and to resist is to make war on Dar al-Islam, therefore we in the West who live in Dar al-Harb (house of war) are de facto at war with Islam, which automatically puts Islam on the defensive. It’s a self fulfilling victimology which is madness by Western standards, but which makes absolute sense to Muslims…”

Interesting that the Doc has noticed an increase in this kind of rhetoric from Muslims who parrot the anti-Israeli sentiment and who are eager to use their children as tools in the propaganda war. What this typically brained washed Mohammadian doesn’t probably realize is that the Fakestinians regularly use and get free health care in Israel as there just aren’t enough doctors in the Strip or the West Bank to accommodate the continual increase in health problems related to the obesity rates and the consanguineous marriage related birth defects.

Making victims of her kids, and through their suffering, the suffering she as a mother will share, will no doubt stimulate the Jihadist pleasure sensors of her asymmetrically wired brain. Golda Meir said it best about Arab children (Scream beat me to it). Now this cannon fodder attitude towards children in the growing existential war against Israel is contaminating non-Arab Muslims as well. When Canadian children are made to suffer to in a fight to destroy the Third Temple, truly we can say they’ve brought their genocidal war to our shores.

simus  – (10:13 PM)

Not to worry. A muslim doctor has likely arrived on the scene and the local prayer leader has put out the word that "better muslims" are "obligated to etc., etc."
Check it off under "missionary work to get back in the community's good graces". Who gave the assignment can be left to the imagination.

1389  – (11:07 PM)

This mother is no mother at all, but a truly evil woman.

I hope that someone will take her children away from her before it is too late for them.

Gideon  – (1:18 AM)

Does this fool think she can pick and choose if she or her family members end up in the emergency room? I hope she ends up facing a physician wearing a big Star of David when she's desperate for medical care. That would be a good time to discuss the doctor's political opinions.

This doctor should have sent her email, unanswered, with full disclosure of her name to the College of Physicians and Surgeons and CC'd as many doctors as possible.

I suspect this woman will be making plenty of trouble for other people as well in the not-too-distant future.

We need people like her in this country because?

dmurrell  – (5:56 AM)

I like "Flea's" two posts on this thread. I did an internet search on the Nazi boycott, from 1933 on, and there is references to boycotting on Jewish dentists (and other professionals) in Germany:
http://www.historyplace.com/worldwar2/timeline/boycott.htm

"Flea's" comment about boycotting Jews in a context of doctor shortages is apt. I have used the example of foreign non-white doctors, in Canada, as an example of ways to break down racism. One example: fifteen years ago on a Friday evening I came down with a chest infection -- a deadly thing if not treated. I went to our city medical clinic, and was waited on by a young woman doctor of Arabic decent. After a cursory check-up, she gave me a perscription for antibiotics, which cured the infection immediately. That night I could have hugged that doctor. For anyone to boycott a life-saving doctor is obscene.

One other point: there have been reports of Muslim men forbidding their wives to be treated by male doctors. There was at least one case, in Britain I believe, of a Muslim husband becoming violent at the prospect of such an examination in a hospital, forcibly preventing the examination. The dhimmi hospital administration brought in a female doctor.

scaramouche  – (7:57 AM)

I think the doc was being much too nice. Had I been him/her, I would have told the woman to mind her own beeswax, that my opinions on matters not pertaining to medicine and health are irrelevant.

Pieface  – (2:04 PM)

Just another signpost on the way to conforming and integrating happily into the equality values of Western society...

Blazing Cat Fur  – (2:08 PM)

Yes it's part of the Matrix of Human Rights and our mosaic of diversity.

Xanthippa  – (2:42 PM)

The bigger question here is: what do WE do about it?

Sure, the first and most important step is to bring these happenings to the light and make sure they are discussed.

But talk alone is not enough!

I can't help thinking that Omar Khadr would have been a way less damaged person had he not been permitted to be twisted by his fanatical parents. Parents kind of like this woman....

We know of the inherent bigotry within our institutions which refuses to protect children from Muslim families to the same extent as children from other backgrounds. Perhaps it is time we began to insist that this bigotry no longer be tolerated in our government institutions!

John B  – (5:15 PM)

Looking on the positive side, some kufar will have an easier time finding a good familiy doctor.

txlady706  – (10:14 AM)

Things are starting to "CHANGE"
I am hoping that America doesn't allow these things to boil over. I'm afraid that the POLITICAL CORRECTNESS has created sooo many lies that most people, are in a cocoon and don't feel the steal of the blade nor smell the gas that will choke them and their children. The nazi's and the Muslims will kill you and say that they are righteous, because the Quoran told them to.
