It is a great day for our city.
The important thing is that Toronto's bien pensant political class got punched in the mouth tonite. Communists, Liberals and alleged Conservatives united in opposition to Rob Ford and he still Kicked Ass. No matter how the pollsters tried to gerryrig results, no matter how obscenely biased the media pile on became the people refused to be bullied or conned. Bravo Toronto.

A reader: On Saturday, some taxpaying acquaintances smugly informed me that they are voting for Smitherman for Toronto's mayor because he's "nice". And Ford isn't. I said, "Smitherman'd better be nice. He is taking your money and wasting it. Ford doesn't need to be nice if he busts the entitlement larcenies."
It turned out that they are moving out of town to a really cultured village, to escape a deteriorating Toronto. But not before they kick us remainchiks hard in the shins, right?

Hate to be a party pooper, but checking results on 640 Talk Radio, I see that the communist carpertbagger Paula Fletcher is leading in Ward 36, and Kristyn Tam-Wong is ahead in Ward 27. Not knowing any other of the wrong crowd, I hope Ford gets some people to work with from the other wards.
Excellent news! Global was reporting Ford winning, but listed current results as Smitherman 48%, Ford 35% -- they've since corrected it, but I think they were terrible confused and disoriented!
That's great news, but what about the rest of council. I remember an alderperson (bitch/bastard) who said the council could, if it wished, de-elect Mr Ford.
I doubt the left will learn their lesson from this. In the future, they will still pat each other on the back, offer endorsements, and see their political fortunes slide and wonder why. Thank the Gods for the Libtards.

It includes Olivia Chow, Rocco Rossi, Sgro, and probably Warren Kinsella (I am not sure if it's him because of the almost completely white hair) and few others. They already started to explain why Ford's plans are not going to work.
Some pundit on CP24 just said Ford was always talking about the "Gravy Chain". I think it's safe to change channels.

What blows my mind is that nobody - NOBODY - on the Smitherman/Pantalone side seemed to see this coming. No sense whatsoever of the deep disillusionment with Miller, no intimation that Ford could have been telling them exactly what they wanted to hear, in unequivocal language, without useless nuance. And that every fat joke, every "if you vote for Rob Ford you're an evil retard" jibe simply magnetized the opposition. And all while bemoaning the "lack of respect" and "divisive tone" of the election. The abdication of self-examination was staggering.

Absolutely stunning, BatB & Rick but Fords internal polling predicted this result all along, how the "professional pollsters" managed to come up with such skewed results should be the focus of a criminal investigation.

Adding to my post above. One of the panelists said that if Ford wants to get financing for his projects, he should get into some agreement with McGuinty before his term expires. The host said that McGuinty is not going to win again.
Warren Kinsella's answer to that was: "That's mythology, they (liberals) are doing fine." I wish I could record that.

Just got home from the Victory party at the congress centre. My poll went Ford 240, Slitherer 160 and Joe Pants 35. I wondered how representative it would be and it was right on! Had 1010 on at 8:16 and missed the announcement. Despite the hype on CP24 I thought the crowd, althought large was quite subdued and we could see him outside the building coming in on the screens which took quite a while. I was pushed by a papparazzi who was walking backward taking pictures that would never amount to anything. Sat right near Mike Harris while he was being interviewed.

CTV National News, now as left-wing as the CBC National, refused to mention the lop-sided victory (i.e., the percentage breakdown). Instead, they trotted out left-wing John Vennevally-Vao to do the reporting. All V-V did was to regurgitate supposed past sins, by Ford -- his police mug, his supposed mis-statements, etc. -- without once mentioning his main campaign theme to cut wasteful spending. CTV News is representative of the elite drivel that passes for journalism these days.
Even CBC National -- with Aaron Saltsman reporting -- did a passably unbiased job. If CTV News is worse than the CBC News reporting, what does this say about our broadcast news?
Byw: what about the corrupt polling? I was under the impression this was a close election race. Yet, in the days that follows, we will not hear about the corrupt polling -- as the paid-and-bought-for media lick their wounds. Now that the Liberal Smitherman has lost, do the left-wing media get their bribe money? I wonder.

My mother-in-law said at dinner a couple of weeks ago that she couldn't possibly vote for Ford because, and I quote, "He beats his wife and hates everyone."
Of course, she gets all her news from the G&M, the Ceeb and her "coffee clatch" (as she calls it).
Kinsella is a hack David, he hasn't been an insider in Liberal poltics for several years now, I suspect the McGuinty claque will dispose of him as every other LPC campaign has soon enough.
