Honest Reporting/CJC Action Alert: Condemn Adbusters' Antisemitic "Photo Essay"
The November 22-28 issue of ADBUSTERS magazine contains a self-described "photo essay" that relies on images of the Warsaw Ghetto to make the comparison between the fate of Jews under the Nazis and the situation of Palestinians living in Gaza. The comparison is more than just obscene; it is antisemitic. And that's not just a matter of opinion. Comparisons of Israeli policy and actions to the Nazis fit the European Union and U.S. State Department working definitions of antisemitism.
To top it off, the Warsaw Ghetto images were used without appropriate permission from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. The Museum is aware of the problem and is taking appropriate action.
Most vendors will have no idea that ADBUSTERS offers such disgusting content and we think you should tell them.
The cover of the November issue looks like this, and the material in question, "Truthbombs on Israeli TV" looks like this.
DO take the magazine up the cashier, open it to the appropriate page and tell the clerk or the owner that "this is antisemitic and shameful," and walk away.
DO NOT damage the magazine in any way (damaging property is illegal) and DO NOT tell the owner to remove the magazine from the store's shelves (while this material does not likely breach Canada's hate laws, Canadians have the right to call it antisemitic and reprehensible).

... I'm scratching my head a bit here.
Adbusters ran this same photo essay last year and not a word was said at the time.
In fact, they've been doing this sort of stuff for a good number of years now.
I know, cuz I keep seeing it stacked front and center at my neighborhood Heather Reisman owned Cole's bookstore magazine rack.
I guess, better late than never is a good thing though as far as drawing the public's attention to the rabid monkeys at Adbusters.
Yea they are nutters, a lot of people sent me this. I noted 2 previous instances at the end of the post.
Yes i know I also remember 2 previous times but I guess its such an obscure magazine no one ever really noticed I guees.
I suppose the good news is that this came from HonestReporting and CJC. Damn its good to see these two groups working together
This gets more negative publicity every time they print it. We're doing the right thing, and it's working. Feels good.
My, what tiresome, sophomoric retailers of fake rebellion; just the mention of Adbusters makes me feel like I'm back among the middle-class commies at university again. At least they've stopped wearing those Sandino Vive! t-shirts.
I hope the powers that be are restricting this groups access to school children.
well deboaned, I was going to let your comment slide but the phony baloney cheerleader BS for the CJC (and it being a slow Friday afternoon), warrants further comment on how stale the air must be in the bubble.
Firstly, Adbusters IS NOT an obscure publication. The last time I checked, it had a circulation nearing 100,000; which makes it one of the most commercially successful independent publications in Canada and qualifies them for a generous grant (free money) from the taxpayer. (that's my money )
Secondly, the important part of my last comment was that none other than Liberal Jewish matron Heather Reisman is their primary distribution outlet for their publication.
Yet there is no mention of that in either Honest Reporting or CJC communique. There are lots of similar publications but only Adbusters has her shelf space.
Which is an even more important factor than some muslim-boy leftist artists getting to put butt plugs up their ass with a (cough) creative take on "Evil Jews" in their magazine
Ms. Reisman has been selling Adbusters for years and while she does exercise total control of what goes into her stores, as all retailers should, to this very day she still is selling this publication. (Jewish Liberal guilt?)
Small wonder Toronto's Jewish Community's gift to the world has been the IAW , - so far at least.
With the likes of Bubble Boy running community affairs; coming into the game years late and dollars short, please curb your enthusiasm next time.

I have had letters-to-the editor published in the National Post critical of the CJC's soft-headedness. But here is a case of Honest Reporting doing good, constructive work promoting a grassroots response to the anti-Semitic Adbusters mag.
And instead of badmouthing Heather Reisman, why not take the trouble to e-mail letters to her company objecting to the anti-Semitic magazine? And do this at other news outlets? Here in Fredericton, Chapters does NOT carry Adbusters, but a small independent chain does.
Note that Heather Reisman -- and Chapters -- is being attacked for supporting a charity supporting woundered Israeli soldiers. There is a boycott by the anti-Jewish left going on here. Let's not pile on.
Honest Reporting Canada is an excellent organization, by the way.
BCF: I encourage you to pull comments, like Paul's, which use the word "slut" against another fellow BCF poster. This shows his moral underpinnings.
Just to show how wrong Paul is here, this morning's (Saturday's) National Post has a good op-ed essay -- by Bernie Farber and Len Rudner "Antisemitism on Your Magazine Rack -- Courtesy of Adbusters". So the claim that the CJC will do nothing about this is absolutely false.
Btw: this morning's NP has great l-t-t-e's on the London Community Centre fiasco, among other topics. The editorial page today reads like the BCF page.

Dmurrell couldn't agree with you more. While I support many CJC issues there are times, I agree when it can be softheaded, though as times change I see that Farber has toughened his stand. His excellent article in today's NP is a clear example.
And I support you on the concerns you expressed about Paul. He claims not to hate CJC just what it has become, as though there is a difference and his disdain for anyone he disagrees with cheapens his argument but as you elegantly points out also cheapens this blog when namecalling like "slut" are allowed to stand.
Good for you David. Its not often we see such sensitivity on this blog. Perhaps as Farber gets tougher BCF is getting more balanced. We can always hope :-)
