On July 16, 2007, the CIC organized a fundraising dinner in Montreal. Their keynote speaker was Yvonne Ridley, member of George Galloway's Respect Party and persona non grata in India. Imam Delic was part of the organizing committee.

An electoral campaign was underway due to partial elections in the riding (Thomas Mulcair got elected). Mrs Kay writes:
...Ridley challenged the women in the audience to "put on a niqab" (i.e., face veil) on voting day -- an exhortation that drew a round of applause. (...)
Ridley closed her remarks with a wistful recollection of a previous fundraiser where she had raised thousands of pounds by waving a Hezbollah flag: "I wish I had that flag tonight."
Hezbollah is a terrorist organization and officially recognized as such in Canada. And whether one approves or not, Canada is at war against the Taliban. Ridley's laundering of the latter and support for the former are, or should be, offensive to all Canadians.
You may want to ask the question to Barbara Kay, but I heard at the time that Imam Delic was sitting close to Yvonne Ridley at that fundraising dinner. He may even have introduced her, applauded her, and made a speech of his own.

Note that Mohamed Elmasry was part of the committee organizing that fundraising together with Delic in 2007, i.e. 3 years after the statement by Elmo.
The organizing committee also comprised the Centre communautaire musulman de Montreal (CCMM).
CCMM was chastised by Quebec mainstream media in December 2007 for having posted on their website a message saying that Muslim girls and women who do not wear the hijab may cause rape, adultery, illegetimate births, and other disorders, and will go to hell. The message also said that Western women are "unpaid prostitutes".

What folks -- mainly MSM journalists and politicians -- often forget is the basic ingredient for the success of human interaction. Without that ingredient there can be no friendship, no viable discussion, and no viable society.
The ingredient is "trust".
Islam has, built-in, the notion of taqiyya -- lying for Allah. It is like a divinely inspired mendacity, an integral part of the Islamic way of Life -- almost unconscious, reflexive, and devoted. Though it is in tension with the inborn imperative of freedom, it can be -- and is -- learned.
Taqiyya is the reason why there cannot be a moderate Muslim. Taqiyya is the reason why a "Westerner" cannot be a real friend with a Muslim person. Taqiyya is the reason why a Muslim person should not be permitted to be in a position of authority.
Of course all that sounds harsh and demeaning, and goes against the nature of "inclusiveness" and "diversity".
But I simply ask: Is it possible for me to embrace a system that is determined to extinguish me and my tradition? No. But, yes, I can be friendly and respectful to a dedicated enemy -- just so long as I do not trust her too far. Just so long as she doesn't want to have any say in the way I am governed or protected. Just so long as she doesn't want to have anything to do with the education of my children.
It is all a matter of trust. As it was in the beginning, is now, and forever shall be.
