Omar Khadr gets 40 Years
Order of Canada.
To the Right Honourable Vic Toews:
In your roll as Minister of Public Safety for Canada, and as my Member of Parliament, I am asking you and the Government of Canada to not let Omar Khadr return to Canada to serve out his sentence for murder.
Omar Khadr has shown no remorse for his actions; has not denounced the life of violence he has lived; and does not adhere to any of the values that make Canada a country I am proud to be a citizen of.
If your read the column written by lawyer Ezra Levant, that was published in the SUN chain of newspapers on October 31, 2010, there are legal grounds available to Canada to reject the return of Omar Khadr. I provide a link to Mr. Levant's column here.
Mr. Minister, I urge you to advocate to the caucus of the Conservative Party of Canada to take all actions necessary to prevent the return of Omar Khadr to Canada. I fear for my Canada, and all Her citizens if Omar Khadr is allowed to return to Canada. He is, himself, a violent threat to all who oppose his fanatical beliefs, and his presence in Canada will likely be used to promote more home-grown jihadi action against our Country. Canada must make a firm stand to denounce and fight terrorism, and by denying the return to Canada of Omar Khadr, Canada will be making a firm statement to the rest of the world.
I trust Mr. Minister you will treat my e-mail, and all similar ones you receive, with the utmost seriousness and sincerity.

I believe in miracles: Please, God, no Order of Canada for Kadr, no NDP nomination, no million-dollar law suit wherein he sues Canada, just a cold, hard jail cell for a long, long, time -- and unfriendly jail mates.

I don't get it. Why even bother with continuing the trial and having the jury sentence him to 40 yrs, when there was a plea deal that will see him get only 8 yrs (as if). Seems a waste of time since the decision to let him go early was made in advance. When he gets to Canada, we'll probably all pay for him to get a degree.
I wanted to add, Marc Emery could end up spending more time in jail -- and in an American prison, not one of Canada's country club style prisons. As much as I dislike Emery personally, he certainly does not belong in jail.
But, I don't want Khadr to rot in prison the rest of his life because that would mean we have to support him. I sincerely hope a fellow prisoner will take him out permanently - problem solved.

This 'child soldier' is an embarrassment to the U.S. government which would like to get him off their hands. Nor do we want him. For that matter there should be a legal way to revoke, rescind, remove citizenship for the entire Khadr family. Why Canada insists on nobly tolerating the presence of these viperous people is beyond comprehension.
I am less bothered about his return than by his enablers.

Question:
Omar Khadr was in Afghanistan, fighting against OUR Canadian troops.
Does THAT, on its own, not constitute 'treason'?
Regardless of anything the Americans may have against him, regardless of any trial and sentence they may have pronounced against him, that fact is unaltered.
So, the moment Omar Khadr enters Canadian jurisdiction (regardless of the circumstances under which this happens), does the Canadian law enforcement have an obligation to charge him with, and put him on trial for, treason?
In other words, if/or when Omar Khadr enters Canada, must he not automatically be charged with Treason?
This is a completely different transgression than the war-crime he has already plead guilty to - so, no 'double jeopardy' applies, right?

I'm with Xan. The moment he steps over the border, arrest him, charge him with treason, try him, and let him face the firing squad. I head Canadian soldiers have a really good aim.

I also agree with Xanthippa. If Khadr isn't charged with treason, with all the undeniable evidence, then Canadia law isn't worth shit.
