Just don't mention the Christians of course, that would be impolitic. Indonesia is a CIDA "Country of Focus", meaning millions of your tax dollars, 79 Million in 2009 alone, are being given to a country where attacks on the Christian minority by Muslims are a daily event. That's some oversight.

For the record, and enormous chunk of CIDA money goes to undemocratic countries. CIDA often sanitizes this by stating that the money goes to Canadian NGOs, or indigenous NGOs, operating in a given undemocratic country. But the NGOs are often left-wing and undemocratic themselves.

Our money gets funnelled to these shitholes, BCF, because of the "white man's guilt" of the left-wing gubment lackies and their hangers-on, who live very well off the taxpayers, feel guilty about it, and think to spend our money to assuage their guilt.
It's "feel-good" third-world assistance: It makes the lefties feel good and the receiving thugs feel good, leaving the rest of us the poorer and with nothing to show for our "assistance," which goes into the pockets and bank accounts of the thugocracies.
The main thing the lefties feel guilty about is that they live so much better than third-world people because of our colonial past. It's our fault, so they figure that the solution to their guilt is throwing money at the problem, always the default position of the Left because it's other people's money they're giving away.
And, as per usual, there's never any follow-up to see if the money has actually gone to the causes they were supposed to go to.
One more thing: If it's Christians being attacked and abused, the Left could care less. A few more dead Christians, in their opinion, is all to the good; that's a few less Christians to challenge their worldview.
Well said Batb. Furthermore I doubt very much of that aid is channelled to Christians in Indonesia. Christians being assaulted just isn't something our government wishes to make note of.
