Because it's Friday...And it's Ann Margaret, Mary Tyler Moore, Donna Reed & ...Jimmy Stewart?

Yea, figure studies, see there's a higher purpose involved.

I see Jay has jumped in;)

Ann Margaret

Mary Tyler Moore & a lotta leg

Sheer Donna Reed

Jimmy Stewart? Who knew!

"The Ice Follies of 1939 is an MGM motion picture. The film's stars include Hollywood legends Joan Crawford and Jimmy Stewart. The 1939 cast of Shipstads and Johnson Ice Follies performed in the movie."

OMG, BCF! Where did you find that photo of Jimmy Stewart?

You are sweet, though, to think of your female readers by featuring a male ... hunk!!

I love Jimmy Stewart -- but not so much dressed up as Toller Cranston. Oy vey!

(If I don't get back here again today, HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and FFoF! All the best in 2011 -- and may you utterly defeat and humiliate that guy who's taking you to court.)

Donald Douglas  – (3:50 PM)

Jimmy Stewart is so gay! Love it!

Roz  – (3:55 PM)

okaaaaaaay BCF, so I don't have the body or even the face of your beauties, what the heck? It does not mean I can't wish you and Kathy a Happy New Year So Happy New Year and wishing you all the very best and a sufi I mean a sue free 2011!!!! May 2011 suddenly mean true freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Happy New Year everybody!!!

Carol  – (4:20 PM)

I've never seen Jimmy look so absolutely fabulous. Happy New Year!

Blazing Cat Fur  – (4:21 PM)

Jimmy Stewart as Toller Cranston, now there's an image you won't forget;)

Happy New Year Everyone.

Yeah! HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone at BCF! We need to stick together, folks!

Thanks for this blog, BCF, and for all the fantastic commenters from whom I learn so much.

The family that prays/says together stays together.

Cheers

LOL that picture of Stewart doesn't jive with his, at the height of his career, enlisting in the army as a private, flying bombers deep into Germany, receiving the distinguished flying cross, and leaving the army as a Brigadier General.

Osh  – (6:17 PM)

Happy New Year, Blaze. Wow! Ann Margrock. Cool. And Jimmy Stewart as part of a gay figuring skating pair? Whaaaaa? All the best in the new year. Let's win.

Blazing Cat Fur  – (8:17 PM)

Happy New Year Osh - That must have been Stewarts contractual obligations picture;)

Revnant Dream  – (2:13 AM)

that looks gay before gay.

Blazing Cat Fur  – (6:54 AM)

I now understand why Joan Crawford turned out as she did.

Black Mamba  – (11:15 PM)

Jimmy Stewart was not gay. He was stylish, in a doofusy kind of way.

Now if you could dig up one of those with Cary Grant...

Blazing Cat Fur  – (11:19 PM)

I dn't know that Cary ever did a skating film, but I'll look for next week;)

been around the block  – (4:36 PM)

I know that Jimmy Stewart wasn't gay (he once had an affair with Marlene Dietrich, was married to the same woman for years, and had twins), but he sure could have fooled anyone in that getup ... :-)

You'll notice that, until recently, the gay guys in Hollywood were always presented as very manly, no hint of being effeminate. So, I don't think there'll be any photos of Cary Grant a la Toller Cranston or the Chiquita Banana Lady.

Blazing Cat Fur  – (4:48 PM)

Kathy just got a copy of Hollywood Confidential - I can't wait to read it, it's written by the son of the magazines founder. Real juicy weird stuff throughout she says;)

Black Mamba  – (4:57 PM)

I am trying so hard to picture Jimmy Stewart and Marlene Dietrich, um, getting it on, and it just doesn't compute...

Blazing Cat Fur  – (5:02 PM)

Worse? Joan Crawford and Marilyn Monroe.

been around the block  – (9:38 PM)

Yeah, I had trouble picturing Jimmy Stewart and Marlene Dietrich too but, apparently, it was just after Stewart arrived in Hollywood and it seems as though Dietrich had it on with just about every male film star hopeful.

'Sounds like a neat book, BCF. Do you think the public library will have it! Hollywood really was/is Sodom/Gomorrah Central.

Blazing Cat Fur  – (9:52 PM)

She just finished! The book is "Shocking True Story" by Henry E. Scott - wait till you read about Van Johnson!
