The poll had a survey size of just 400 people and was conducted by phone on Sept 24th & 26th, the Nanos poll which showed Ford with a commanding lead was conducted 2 weeks ago and sampled a much more statistically reliable 1000 people. Today's poll has a margin of error of 4.9 % 19 times out of 20, meaning that statistically 1 out of 20 times this survey is taken results can be out in left field.
The major claim is that voters would prefer Smitherman to Ford were they the only 2 candidates in the race. That's a nice bit of of hypothetical manipulation which conveniently ignores the 3 other candidates. Furthermore the question asking this preference has not been made publicly available that I have seen, I would love to see its specific wording. I would also like to know what questions were asked in advance and what statements or information were provided leading up to this question - there are lots of ways a survey can go astray. We also have no information on the geographic distribution of respondents on a core versus suburb basis. In short this may well be a rogue poll.
In other poll news the Lying Jackal continues to drag the Rossi campaign down.

NB: The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points, 19 times out of 20. Let's take a look at the margin of error.
More Manipulation? "Among those absolutely certain to vote in a two-way race, 57 per cent would back Smitherman compared to 37 per cent for Ford." Note that for this or any survey the margin of error for results focusing on a given subgroup i.e. "Smitherman supporters" will be significantly higher than the stated 4.9 per cent of this poll. In short there is more than one "margin of error" at play here which hasn't been communicated to MSM readers.

Although I asked for full disclosure from the prosecutor on August 14th, we haven't received anything. Our lawyer tells us that we will get disclosure tomorrow, and, assuming the municipality wants to continue with the charges, we will set a new court date for the case. We're pretty nervous, to be honest.
But we're buoyed by the thought that so many across Canada (and abroad) have supported us, have written letters to our representatives, have made phone calls to our mayor and council, have signed our petition, and have contributed to my mom and dad's legal defence fund.
