1 Billion a year for something very few watch.

As evil as the CBC frequently is as the propaganda arm for neo-Socialist stupidity, blowing money on development is par for the course in the entertainment industry. Most TV show pilots never get broadcast, let alone turn into series and for every movie you see on the big screen, there are at least 10 projects that went through expensive development and ended up going nowhere.

That said, $1 Million of tax dollars is a lot to blow, even in Hollywood terms. The Ceeb probably owns some equity in the project, even if their name isn't on it.

My guess is that Mulroney: The Opera is not going to be a box office smash. My first thought would be that only someone at the Ceeb would be insane enough to think anyone would be interested in seeing a Mulroney opera movie.

But then, the next thought is, they probably don't even care - it's not like they are held accountable for those kind of screw ups with your money.

That is the root of the issue, they have no accountabilty and no reason to become competitive, the tap flows endlessly.

... must be nice to have a job where you get to rip up thousand dollar bills in the shower.

[kinda explains their idea of broadcast production values when they spend more time in their news shows telling us "what's coming up right ahead", followed by their inane interstitials and goofy "sound logos", than they do broadcasting actual news information.]

Increasingly irrelevant where it was once a symbol of Canadian fair-minded expression and national unity; veered off to the left and got moored there. Too bad, so sad, can we have our money back, please?

An example of CBC propaganda:

On last night's CBC National, pro-Liberal host Peter Mansbridge gave the "Liberals' change TV ad story", as the #2 item in the news.

He gave a talking head clip of Ignatieff defending the TV ad, but censored any clip of Harper stating that his government increased health spending by 6% a year, etc. So the entire story -- as the corrupt Masnbridge gave it -- was the Tories complaining, and the Liberals defending...Yet the CBC propaganda machine refuses to give Harper's side of the argument.

It's a bubble culture fed by nepotism. We should not ever expect it to get any better.

Squiggy  – (1:20 PM)

Two good things about the CBC...........Hockey Night in Canada and Coronation Street.........but these could easily be picked up by other networks at lower cost probably...What constantly amazes me is that Quebec can produce high quality programs for a smaller audience than CBC for all of Canada.

You mean you don't drop everything and sit riveted before the TV when Little Mosque comes on?

Paul  – (2:03 PM)

To tell the truth, I get more useful news and information watching MANsers than CBC News.

Blazing Cat Fur  – (2:21 PM)

Well there's a qualitative difference, chicks in bikini's are a proven brain stimulant.

Melykin  – (2:33 PM)

I was listening to CBC new in the car yesterday and the NEWS sounded exactly like a Liberal election ad. The Liberal bias is sickening. I turned it off quick and felt like smashing the radio.

Blazing Cat Fur  – (2:47 PM)

A lot of people have that reaction;)
