Mercy we're saved! Iran to track Human Rights Abuses in West!
"TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian lawmaker announced on Monday that Tehran would soon launch an English-language news agency to review the latest human rights conditions in the West, specially in the UK and the US. "
Soon as that site is up and running I am sending them info on Section 13 (1) and the Canadian Human Rights Commission. I've been meaning to post on this, the judicial review of Section 13 (1) we've all waited for is finally a go. This is the big one and represents our only hope of seeing an end to this stupid and dangerous law. Harper is not only too cowardly to act on Section 13 he's actually proposing to implement an even greater threat to our fundamental freedoms by passing into law Bill C-51.
While our PM proceeds to turn the CPOC into the Liberal party somewhere hangs a portrait of Steven Harper slowly but surely morphing into an image of Brian Mulroney.

Bill C-51 is frightening. I feel like I've just been hit by the mob.
Not only is this tyranny, it's extortion. The message being given to us is: So you refused to pay the price with Section 13, so now we're gonna show you we mean business. When we say STFU we mean STFU.
The mob's gonna need more jails to house all these new criminals they made by default; including the ones with animals in their blog names.
I'm wondering if blogger went down to ensure that they comply with the new rules. I didn't like the fact that now you tube has made it mandatory to link that account with a google/blogger account, and now I really really don't like it.
Is it just me or did blogger change the terms - it now reads this:
Hate Speech: We want you to use Blogger to express your opinions, even very controversial ones. But, don't cross the line by publishing hate speech. By this, we mean content that promotes hate or violence towards groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status or sexual orientation/gender identity. For example, don't write a blog saying that members of Race X are criminals or advocating violence against followers of Religion Y.
What happened in Egypt, Libya, Yemen and Syria with social media has the mob - er governments scared.
I wonder if SunTV will be accountable to the viewers as promised, and take the conservatives to task like they said they would. I'm surprised and disappointed that Ezra has not been all over this.

I've never read blogger's terms Opionator. No idea what Ezra will do about C-51.
What's needed is persons with legal backgrounds, like Ezra, to comment on what this law will look like and how it will affect freedom of expression in Canada.
The vagueness contained in this section and lack of information is what's causing me alarm.
Do rules of evidence apply? What needs to occur to prove that incitement and violence are the direct cause of a link, and how much accountability lies with the person who actually commits, or incites violence as opposed to a person who merely posted a link to a site? Where does context fit in?
Does violence or incitement towards violence have to occur or is just the potential to do so enough to charge a link poster under this addition to the criminal code?
I don't want to be an alarmist, yet it's difficult to remain level headed in the face of so much uncertainty, vagueness and lack of information. As it now stands, I see potential for abuses to occur.
