Video: Mosqueteria Protest at the Toronto District School Board

On July 25 2011 a protest was held against the Toronto District School Board's Islam First policy which allows public tax payer funded secular schools to be converted into ad hoc mosques. Imam's are allowed by the TDSB to conduct Islamic prayer rituals in these schools.

By allowing this practice the TDSB has condoned gender discrimination against girls who are segregated from the boys during the rituals and worse singled out as "Unclean" and denied participation at all should they be menstruating. All of this goes against Canadian values, our Charter of Rights & Freedoms and Ontario education policy. It is speculated that the TDSB is condoning these activities in order to ensure they continue to receive education funding for Muslim students whose parents might otherwise pull their children from the system if their demands were not met. Muslim students, a growing demographic, now comprise a significant revenue source for the TDSB and ultimately the teacher's union.

The video is a series of interviews with participants, ranging from Robert Lantos & Meir Weinstein to a woman who converted to Christianity from Islam, an atheist, a young couple who have seen Christian children discriminated against first hand by the TDSB and more. The video concludes with a verbal melee which illustrates how divisive the TDSB's Islam First policy has become.

It was a lively turnout at tonight's TDSB Mosqueteria protest. Intense debate both pro and con, TDSB officials elected to hide in their bunker rather than address the crowd of about 75 to 80 protestors, though I understand Chris Spence did give media interviews to advise that the school board would pretend to "listen" to both sides of the issue but continue to endorse Islam above all other religions.

Hey Blazing. I was there at there at the protest helping to hold up the Christian Heritage Party banner. I heard that you were in there as well but I wasn't able to spot you there. Were you one of those holding up signs?

*whew*  Got my stuff up now with my take.  Thanks for everything BCF.

John-BC –   – (10:01 PM)

When the premier of your province takes a stand that supports the decision made by the school board, it suggests that this situation, while against the law, will continie.  Another 'Caledonia' from your lying premier.  John-BC

Most of the MSM put the crowd at 50.

By the way, looks like I got the whole UK media chasing after your EDL buddy "Lionheart" for his connection with Breivik.  But nobody gave me any credit!  Now I know how you feel.

A great showing of support by all.  interestingly enough that the muslim community had a female  do the talking and she played the political game with a victims expression and tone  then  jabbed then threw some curves. going on about what takes place in higher educations systems.. like the palistinian wall of lies maybe ?
like to see a mass march soon ... a float with christmas Tress and good tideings..

I would like to see more on the cirriculum . after all we know that they become haters later . of what they were indoctrinated into and conditioned to feel....imagine the road rage.. be like stock car smash up.

and shouldnt immigration be more counter productive. in screening . maybe .have a showing of the Bachorlette and those  who have tears in there eyes from watching the empowerment of a women  saying will you accept this rose.. (MAYBE) a more tolerant member of OUR society....

Blazingcatfur –   – (9:36 AM)

Very few Muslims showed up, other than the Girl the most noatable was a TDSB techer who is affiliated with crazies at NAMF, the people who have a hate on for Tarek Fatah.

The arguments are the same as the Macleans/Steyn & Ezra Levant HRC cases - there is none. Just as they pretended to be oblivious to the concept of free speech they also choose to be oblivious to the concept of equality and a secular school system. It's a willful ignorance that is part of their agenda to implemet muslim dominace in the public sphere.

Ann –   – (10:06 AM)

Thanks for providing video of the event. The Canadian value about fairness was
expressed in many different ways. Personally, I can't see this issue going away
anytime soon. The TDSB took what many might see as a political decision and now
the fight has been taken to the street. In many ways, if the TDSB had been more
transparent in their decision, about how to deal with kids being kids that took advantage of their religious accommodation, (that being excused from class to attend prayer at the local mosque, but chose instead to go elsewhere), then things would have been different. Now  the TDSB decision appears to be opportunistic,  ideologically and politically driven. Come to think of it the TDSB kind of looks like they were appeasing the kids' parents and punishing the kids. Clearly, if the kids had wanted to pray they would have gone to the Mosque, but they didn't, that is telling, I think. So when the TDSB invited the Imam into the school for Friday prayers, whose needs and salvation were really being addressed?

The teacher you referred to is Omar Qayuum, who teaches at Agincourt Collegiate Institute.

He is a regular on the Oakley show.

This morning was a real cracker with one hour of the Ezra.

Omar called in and moaned about how much hatred he was feeling at the protest.

He then said he had been physically attacked and 'kicked' and somehow connected it to Ezra.

Was there any physical violence at all ?

Blazingcatfur –   – (10:49 AM)

The charming Taqiyya specialist is associated with NAMF and also called one protestors wife ignorant, if anything occured I was not aware of it as no scuffles broke out that I witnessed. It's possible that something happened after I left at the demo's end. However he was running around telling every MSM reporter he could that the JDL was a terrorist organization. I will research this guy in more depth.

Dodoforever Canspell –   – (10:56 AM)

Great vid BCF.  Thanks.
That woman "Pamela" made so much sense and also the convert to Christianity, the young couple and all the people you guys spoke to.

The moslem girl with the counter-protest message was harping on (whining) about just one issue "we  need to pray, why can't we pray, why are you not letting us pray"  .... she was blind, deaf and oblivious to everything else.  This is exactly the mindset of those who think that it is okay for these prayer meetings to be held in the public school cafeterias.

It was also appalling to note that the moslem girl does not know what sharia is, at least not the way we look at it.  She does not think that the koran allows wife-beating and cutting off of hands for thievery,etc. .... and yet she professes to know enough to tell others that they are wrong to protest against sharia advancement in public schools of Canada.
Unbelievable.

Thanks again for the vid... very nicely done.

San Win –   – (11:09 AM)

I also notice that Chris Spence indulged in a little taqiyaa of his own.

"Bringing an imam into the school was a means of preventing some of the
approximately 300 Muslim students from failing to return to classes
after those prayers, said school board director Chris Spence. It also
meant they don’t have to cross a busy street."

http://www.parentcentral.ca/parent/education/article/1030513--protesters-oppose-muslim-prayer-in-public-schools

The only busy street that students might have to cross would be the Don Mills Road.

But they don't, the mosque in on the same side of the street.

Most of the commenters at the Toronto sun are outraged at the school Mosques and Mosqueterias, frankly I can't understand why no one will stop the unethical practices. Personally I think the TDSB saw the writing on the wall, either accommadate the Wahhabists unrelenting demands or they'd take their property out of public school in favour of private Islamic schools.

Islamophobia is an industry these days,” said Qayum."http://www.parentcentral.ca/parent/education/article/1030513--protesters-oppose-muslim-prayer-in-public-schools

But are girls prevented from praying when they are on their periods because they are believed to be unclean? Nope. Actually, Muslims males are not easy targets, young Muslim girls' gender equality rights represent the easy target. Following Qayum expressed outrage he believes protests against a systemic bias against females taking place each Friday in a "non-secular" publicly funded school and the redress A Charter guaranteed right,  gender equality, amounts to Islamophobia.

“To imply that an institution like polygamy
has no place in today’s society is sheer arrogance. Just look at the number of
Muslim women living in shelters across the GTA. Are you suggesting that nobody
should look after these women? Are you demanding that they live a life of
isolation and loneliness? Do these women not have emotional and physical needs?
Or are you advocating that they be promiscuous and have affairs?
Maybe you have forgotten how much Islam encourages the
institution of marriage, even if it be polygamous, as opposed to living single….”

Geez Omar, why would women need to be shelters?
Anyone reading Omar’s open letter, can understand why the Charter guarantee of
gender equality would be seen as Islamophobia.

"Because of their stand, the TDSB is being swamped with hate mail. "How would the MSA know that the TDSB has been "swamped with hate mail"? If we accept their claim, then,  a protected Charter Right, gender equality and political protest, in the form of letter writing, amounts to inciting "hate mail". Is the TDSB releasing information to the group?Their argument is that Muslim males compulsory religious  practice allows for gender segregation and it supplants all other rights, freedom of political expression and gender equality rights, in Canadian civil society which are based on the rule of law.

In a way, it's funny to watch secularism have to defend itself.  People have striven to have any belief completely absent from schools even to the point where Christmas cannot be mentioned and now secularists act as though they are defending their very lives! I am not suggesting the "mosqueteria" business doesn't matter, just that this has become something of a farce. The West will not defend its values and a death cult demands special exceptions for themselves. Only a few will stand up. This might be a cultural about-face or might just be one drop in the proverbial bucket.

Just my random thoughts.

I actually felt sorry for that young woman being harangued at the end
of the video.  She's trying to walk the line between being liberal (for a Muslim) and still support Islam, but she's out of her league.  She hung in there in a calm manner, give her credit, even though she fails to see the importance of keeping religion separate from public education.

leonkushner –   – (6:22 PM)

It's blatantly obvious to me why this is happening. The laws are clear: No religion is allowed in public schools. TDSB is trying very hard to accommodate their Moslem students by allowing them to be taught their own religion 'after hours' in order to keep them in the public school system in order to keep their numbers up so they can continue to justify their existence. The truth is that our public school system stinks. I know it first hand as I have 3 kids that have gone thru our lousy system. When I pulled them out and put them in private schools, the principals all gave us a hard time and tried to dissuade us from doing so. As is typical, it's all about money.  Even though the Imam's may well be teaching their students about shariah law, kill the infidel's (us), etc., TDSB and other school boards, universities and businesses continue to ignore this and appease their clients (students, parents, employees).
TDSB and the rest of them will end up paying dearly should they continue to play this dangerous game. If all religions asked for the same privileges as the Moslems are getting, it would be total chaos. It's a shame that we must protest such an obvious injustice. Shame on the TDSB. Those that allow this to continue need to be fired.

This kind of thing is going to cause vigilantism and violence against muslims.  People are sick and tired of muslims pushing their way into Western countries then telling us they're better than we are.

Where are muslims happy?  They're not happy in Gaza, Egypt, Libya, Iran, Iraq, Morocco, Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, or Lebanon - all islamic countries that enforce islam and Sharia Law.  Where ARE muslims happy?  They're happy in England, France, Germany, the USA, Sweden, The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Canada, Norway...  They're happy in every country that ISN'T islamic!  And who do they blame for their unhappiness?  Certainly not islam, their leadership or themselves.  THEY BLAME THE COUNTRIES IN WHICH THEY ARE HAPPY!

batb –   – (11:19 PM)

That Muslim girl seemed to know nothing about what a public school is, she had no idea -- she said -- that Muslims are killing Christians and Jews because of jihad in the Middle East, she had no idea that Christian and Jewish, Hindu and Buddhist, prayers aren't allowed in public schools. She said, when challenged about Muslim prayers being appropriate only in mosques, "aren't schools a second home?" and "go ahead (if you're Christian, Jewish, Hindu, and Buddhist) and pray. 'You shouldn't pray in schools?"

What the ...?

First, if you're Christian, Jewish, Hindu, or Buddhist you're not allowed to pray in public schools (something she seemed totally unaware of) and, second, school as "a second home" is not what school is supposed to be. A school is a school where kids go to learn to read, write, and do arithmetic -- or, at least, that's what a school was when I was young, before the therapeutic gang got a hold of it and the Board.

This Muslim girl went to York University. 'Figures, doesn't it? She hasn't a clue what the real issues are -- and, in her case, ignorance is obviously bliss. She wasn't phased by the criticisms of Muslim prayers in public schools, because she had no idea what the broader issues were.

Some advice for her: Honey, now that you're living in Canada -- or maybe you grew up here -- you'd better do some homework and find out what our laws are all about and not show up at rallies where the issues being discussed are way beyond you. Your naivety, far from being charming, is pathetic.

Blazingcatfur –   – (11:32 PM)

I actually have an interview on tape with her, she is every bit as dim as you describe Batb. Islam seems to encourage a wilful blindness to any concept such as free speech or secular schools that interferes with the advancement of the Ummah. I don't think she was disingenuous just a stupid girl.

It's a trait I first noticed in Syed Soharwardry, they live in an Islamist bubble and the real world is unable or rarely able to penetrate. It may have something to do with Islam's regard for the other as expressed in the Koran and sharia law - if it originates in the world of the Kuffar it is ignored.

batb –   – (9:21 AM)

It's chilling, isn't it? Willful ignorance. It's dangerous, too.

BTW, BCF, what's the logo? It looks like the face of a panda bear to me. Is it or am I way off the mark?!

Daniel Moshe Johnson –   – (11:12 AM)

Selah

The issue here is simple, many choose to live in Canada, and many have come as Refugees from countries that oppose democracy, Israel and religious expressions other than Islam. The records indicate that Islam is biased against non-Muslim throughout there book "KORAN". There is no erasing this, and further more, there should be no discussions, just more protest and numbers to force a  ban legislation of Islam from within Canada until further notice.

For if it was a peaceful religion, it would be seen as such, and the actions worldwide would reflect it. Other than the Jewish Defense League, who always have the Canadian flag with them, not one pro- Islamic individual have a Canadian flag, what does this mean? It means Mr. Harper, that you and your predecessors' have brought people with major issues within the doorsteps of democracy and Canada. And this is the result, this is just the beginning of it.

The legislation process of banning Islam, if it starts, will show the Canadian hierarchy in government what we have been saying all the while. It will un lease the demons that we Israelis fight everyday. They will have no problem with reaping havoc upon this sovereign, for they are on a cul tic, cryptic and suicidal path to Allah.

I would prefer that Canadian Muslims lie to us, by staging public rallies, and pretend to us that they no longer stand with the current ideology of Islam, please lie to us, for it is better. For Muslims to continue to vouch for the book of hate shows the huge mind control and intimidation within there community.

One must ask the question, who is watching the Arab community in Canada, to ensure, that no Muslims denounces the hate within the Koran ever speaks or protest openly. Time to wake up Mr. Harper and Mr. Kenney, DEPORTATION, ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

condoning these activities in order to ensure they continue to receive
education funding for Muslim students whose parents might otherwise pull
their children from the system if their demands were not met.For more information about mailing toronto services please visit this website http://www.corporatemailing.com/aboutus.htm
