For the NDP, it's giving smokes to their campaign workers.
This has a long tradition by all parties. They used to go about before elections in Lower Canada, with whiskey carts.To all end sundry vying for votes. Now with Government forced increases for tax on tobacco its smokes. Less visible as well.
I love how this moron's immediate defense was: "Oh, it wasn't really me! The other parties actually did the bad thing I just admitted to doing." Pure class.

All parties and all candidates offer pre election bribes with their multitude of promises. Unfortunately very few of the bribes are ever delivered and hence cannot be appreciated.
You can be sure that those who accepted the cigarettes enjoyed the coffin nails. I doubt that many voters were swayed though.
