And I'm just back from a visit to the hospital, Mom was taken there last night after experiencing an "event". This is my latest adventure in health care.
It took about a half hour to locate her after I arrived and once found I asked Mom about any diagnosis, tentative or otherwise, that staff physicians had provided her. I have learned always to double check with the nurses and doctors to confirm Mom's version of events, aside from being very hard of hearing, let's just say she is selective in her interpretations.
Off I went to front desk. May I speak to the nurse who is looking after my mother? My mother, the patient in room XX? Do you know which nurse is looking after my mother?
No.
May we find out? This was not easily done, they could not find her name in the computer system, however by a stroke of luck the nurse sitting beside the young lady I was questioning happened to be my Mom's nurse and was in fact working on her file that very minute.
Can you tell me about my Mother's condition? No.
She informs me she has had a battery of tests run, do you have the results? I don't know.
May I speak with the Doctor who examined my mother this afternoon. No.
Can you tell me the Doctor's name? I don't know.
Can you find out the Doctor's name for me? I don't know.
Is there anyone I can contact on this floor able to discuss my mother's condition?"...In an Ontario Superior Court ruling handed down last week, Justice Carole Brown made the correct decision by ruling that “the public interest favouring disclosure clearly does not outweigh the legitimate interests in freedom of expression and the right to privacy of the persons sought to be identified.” And that the bloggers “had a reasonable expectation of anonymity in the particular circumstances, given that they were free to identify themselves, to write under a pseudonym or remain anonymous.”

I'm back from my latest adventure in healthcare. Mom had an "event" last night. She is doing ok and has been admitted for further observation. It's the getting there I don't understand. Into emergency, bloodwork, initial consult and then nothing.
The hours tick by. Oh, the blood work results will be done by 11 and then we should be able to tell you whether we'll keep her in or not. 11 arrives and the tune changes to now we have to consult with "The Medicine Doctor". I did not make that up, "Medicine Doctor", that's the hospital's term. I dunno, maybe it's a native outreach thing.
11 turns to 12 turns to 2 turns to 3 and I'm runnin out of smokes and patience. At this point she's been there 8 hours already and they still can't tell us whether she'll be admitted or not. I was in that ER all night, this is no "Ramparts Randolf Mantooth" emergency unit, in fact it was perhaps the least busy I have seen. Sensing I may have been impatient the staff suggested I could leave and they would send Mom home in a taxi when they had finished with her. Mom is 86, suffers vertigo and uses a walker.
When my patience wore thin shortly after 3 am I approached the nurse's station and asked where this imaginary Medicine Doctor was. The nurse pointed her out. I had walked by the Medicine Doctor all evening as she sat beavering away at a work station. I had assumed she was clerical staff, seriously.
I asked again when we might see the doctor and was given a shrug. At that point I asked for the form to sign Mom out. By a strange unexplained coincidence the delivery of the form coincided with the delivery of the Medicine Doctor. After a 5 minute consultation the Medicine Doctor pronounced that Mom would be admitted for further examination.
Like I said, I don't understand the "getting there", 8 hours for a 5 minute consult.
The CBC lied about the JDL, wrongfully labelling them a terrorist organization. Hilarity ensues.

On July 25 2011 a protest was held against the Toronto District School Board's Islam First policy which allows public tax payer funded secular schools to be converted into ad hoc mosques. Imam's are allowed by the TDSB to conduct Islamic prayer rituals in these schools.
By allowing this practice the TDSB has condoned gender discrimination against girls who are segregated from the boys during the rituals and worse singled out as "Unclean" and denied participation at all should they be menstruating. All of this goes against Canadian values, our Charter of Rights & Freedoms and Ontario education policy. It is speculated that the TDSB is condoning these activities in order to ensure they continue to receive education funding for Muslim students whose parents might otherwise pull their children from the system if their demands were not met. Muslim students, a growing demographic, now comprise a significant revenue source for the TDSB and ultimately the teacher's union.
The video is a series of interviews with participants, ranging from Robert Lantos & Meir Weinstein to a woman who converted to Christianity from Islam, an atheist, a young couple who have seen Christian children discriminated against first hand by the TDSB and more. Once again the Star publishes a major article deploring the “obscene” rewards to business executives with poor performance records. And once again, the Star fails to mention the compensation practices of the Torstar Corporation.
Mr. Olive “doesn’t get” News of the World’s Rebekah Brooks’ $3.9 million “golden parachute.” Surely he is aware of what every suffering Torstar Corporation shareholder knows. When Robert Prichard (Torstar’s previous chief executive) left the company he was given a “parting gift” of $11,551,981. By comparison, Rebekah Brooks’ payout is modest indeed and Robert Murdoch looks like a piker compared to the Torstar Corporation’s Compensation Committee.
During Robert Prichard’s watch, Torstar Corporation stock lost approximately two thirds of its value.

They also condemned Israel for, well, pretty much everything, and showed no empathy at all for Jewish suffering, and the experience of living with terrorism for more than sixty years.

"Last night I stayed at Christ Church which is located just inside the old city of Jerusalem. Lots of people, lots of walking. Poor old feet are tired today. Because of Shabbat (Jewish holy day), I could not get a bus back to Beer Sheva until 9pm so I took a Sharoot (a shared taxi) to Tel Aviv and then another Sharoot to Beer Sheva instead.
I went to Masada and Arad yesterday morning. I'll post a few pics of Masada in another email. Arad is mentioned in the Old Testament. It is a desert town, now surrounded by many Bedouin camps."

One of the prime organizers behind the Sea Hitler's fund raising efforts was a left wing Jew Hate organization called Alternatives.ca. Alternatives receives Gobs of tax money doled out by our spinless conservative government.
This National Post article dated Jan 25 2010 states that Ottawa announced Alternatives had been defunded, end of story. They are still at the trough. Now Jason Kenney is on record stating that maybe, kinda, one day, sorta, with luck, assuming the planets are alligned just right and the chicken innards bode favourably, that funding just might be cut off for Alternatives Mid East projects only;
"When asked about the fact that Alternatives continued to receive about one million dollars of tax funds in the last fiscal year, Mr. Kenney responded that he understood that funding would cease to that group for it's mid-east activities. He added that there is $200 Billion dollars dispersed to various programs by the government each year to a huge number of organizations, as that some activities of some of them go unnoticed by the government."

And, aha: "... when we [principal and teacher lodging complaint] looked carefully together at the TDSB’s own calendar showing obligatory prayer times for Muslim students (see above), she agreed that the practice [of Friday afternoon prayers] could not be justified as religious accommodation [emphasis mine]. When I suggested that the practice was, then, simply a 'gift' to Muslim students, she smiled and stated that she would continue the practice."
The only "accommodation" being made here is to the salaries and benefits of the TDSB employees, from the top down. They need the government monies that accompany each student to whatever public school s/he attends -- and seeing as Muslims are having very large families, "accommodating" them, to ensure they stay in the public system, has become de rigeur."
