Except for a few exceptions, I have not heard much from Canadian Muslims. This would seem the logical place to start, assuming they are not in denial (some are apparently doubting the evidence).
More than a few I suspect and frankly some who have spoken out "against honour killings" I am reluctant to trust.

When you have a Religion where its the duty to lie to any not of your Ummah, but are infidels. How can you trust any word from them? Besides those that really object will be persecuted by the ones who honor murder as a rite.
Its worse than an Iron curtain. Its an insidious blanket that smothers truth that will strangle you to death. While the victim is bush whacked by lies.
Under the guise of intelligent discourse, al-CBC ALWAYS gives the last word to some liberal determined to confuse this issue and generalize it as "common domestic violence", implying that it has no cultural origin. Same thing from about a year ago - an Asian professor nailed it, then was refuted by some professor in the same way. Disgusting anti-Canadian apologistic propaganda outlet, indistinguishable in mentality from Arab media.
And the Left, hearing what they want to hear, always believe the lies.
What is missing from all the analysis so far? The mention of SHARI'A law.
The Shafia's are guilty under Canadian law. But blameless under shari'a law. Under shari'a, empowered with the unassailable right to take the lives of their offspring, or their offsprings' offspring.
When the Shafias avow that they have committed no crime, they believe it because they do not recognize themselves as subject to Canadian law, but only to shari'a.
That the Shafias were not overtly "religious" is trotted out as proof that this had nothing to do with islam. But islam is a totalitarian construct with religion, politics and law all inextricably interwoven. The Shafia's may not have openly subscribed to some of the "religious" trappings of islam, but they fully subscribed to its legal trappings.
It is the sanctioning of these murders by shari'a law that makes them islamic honour killings.
Islam is a cult, these murders had everything to do with islam.
