Guess Who Might Be Offended: Turkish and Arabic Bible translations to omit ‘Father’ and ‘Son’
"Wycliffe Bible Translators, Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) and Frontiers are under fire for "producing Bibles that remove "Father," "Son" and "Son of God" because these terms are offensive to Muslims" ...
h/t Anne
One might reasonably ask: what's the point in producing a bible with these words/concepts excised?!
Imagine anyone worrying if people in the West would be "offended" by a Koran translation (!)
This kind of pisses me off, like... A LOT!
Ya know, like totally.
If the Pope ever starts issuing fatwas - I will follow them, and I'm not even Catholic.
I wish he would, we need another crusade.
It's cool. We live in Crazy Stupid World, so this stuff all makes sense. Why worry?
Yea crazy is now mundane.
It's a shame that the Wycliff translators are seriously naive enough to think that attempting to appease Islam by omitting Father and Son from the Bible is going to stop them from killing Christians, if anything it will spur them on through a perceived victory. Christians need to boycott this abominable version along with the gender neutral version that came out a few years ago - the changes in that one make my spirit sorrowful.
One of the changes, not related to gender neutrality, is exchanging, in every instance, Jesus' expression "verily verily I say unto you" or in some versions "truly truly I say unto you" to, get this, "I guarantee you" making Jesus sound like a used car salesman. As if a guarantee's mean anything in today's world. To begin with guarantees, even manufacturers guarantees, are filled with loopholes and trying to persuade an establishment to honor a guarantee is like pulling teeth. A subtle, yet effective, strategy to make Jesus' words untrustworthy.
Like the NIV (not inspired version) as its known, because the main contributers never even believed in miracles, let alone the resurrection. Fudges verses as well. The bible business is big money. So finding them prostitute the Bible is no big deal . They have done it for years. Like with Sex based feminist translations I fins so far the best version is the English Standard Version. Translated from the Septuagint like the KJV, but with a lack of its obvious errors or now confused changed language (Which have been known for hundreds of years). Joshua used the Septuagint when quoting Bible verses. The living Bible translation is pretty good as well. The Vulgate & Jerusalem Bible are good as well. Stay away from the masoratic based texts, which have been proven to be tampered with just 10 years ago theologically, as being Gnostic influenced in most cases. For the closest yet translation from even older texts latley found. The new International Standard Bible just released, is the closest to Hebrew & Greek texts. With most scribal or spelling errors removed.
The Bible business is as corrupt as any other. It makes billions in profits
World wide. (Excuse the pun)
Thanks! -Right now I use the American Standard Version and the King James; wore out the Living Bible translation - missing pages now. Will check out The New International Standard Bible. What are masortic based texts?
One would hope that at least something would be considered sacred in this world. -sigh-
I could go into detail with Gods help on this and say how his spirit will be poured out to all man kind in the latter days. The gospel is to go to the four corners of the world. has it? so Pouring his spirit is happening now.. many muslims have excepted christ. The powers of darkness are useing all means to stop it. we know that he will come when the holy spirit has lifted. so the evil can come..from the second heaven..and the great last will not happen untill Isreal is in full ownership and control over jeruselem. no wonder the ones led not by his spirit want control over that city ..he knows and believes he can stop Gods plan. are all forces gathering..? more on what there doing .. http://www.nowtheendbegins.com/blog/ pray for all man kind and know revelation 22,19 and get your gift in spirit, read revelation .
Yet another strategy conceived and developed by radical Islamists in order to deceive Christians?
When you combine the religious teaching known as “Chrislam” with the removal of “Father”, “Son” and “Son of God” from the Bible you have what the social-justice seeking, politically correct mainstream protestant churches want and need, a new way to put bums in seats and to manipulate the faithful.
This should be a wake up call for Christians of every stripe. Your religious teachings and your faith are about to be hijacked in a new way - from within - by ravaging wolves.
It is an attack Jim, no two ways about it.
In a few more years, the newest Bible translation will be little more than a politically correct leaflet.
As usual my bad spelling muddies the water.
The Masoretic Text of the Old Testament
http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/masorete.htm
PS this guy is a little off . It was not Jews , but Jewish messianic Gnostic groups based in Alexandra. Like I said this has all come out in the last 10 years. The NIV is heavly influenced by these texts. Some are even NT texts that he leaves out.
Let's get Muslims to edit out the parts (over half of?) of the Koran and Hadith that call for domination, slaughter, taxing of , forced conversions, raping and deception of non-muslims, slaying of "idolators"and that glorify the "wrath of Allah".
Ha! Can you imagine!
In Jesus we see God’s attributes of love, wisdom and grace. In 2 Timothy 2:11–13, Paul mentions some other divine attributes that Jesus clearly possesses. Verse 12 declares God’s justice: if we reject Christ, then God has no choice but to also reject us. God’s moral purity (see Isaiah 6:3–5) necessitates his justice; he cannot, will not and does not ignore sin. Jesus also possesses moral purity. As both Hebrews 4:14–15 1 John 3:5 attest, Jesus lived a sinless life. God the Father also endorsed Jesus’ moral purity (see Matthew 17:5).
Following the stern warning of 2 Timothy 2:12, Paul highlights Jesus’ faithfulness. Although we may turn away from Jesus, he gives us many undeserved chances to be reconciled with him. God’s faithfulness is well chronicled in the Old Testament’s accounts of the Israelites’ cycles of disobedience that were met with God’s mercy.
Both God and his Son, Jesus, possess moral purity, justice and faithfulness. These traits could not belong to an ordinary human but rather describe God incarnate. The fact that Jesus possessed these traits gives powerful testimony to his claims to be.
Good information - thanks. BTW - wasn't your spelling - just never heard of those texts before.
