WTF? $140K to study HIV Positive Lumberjacks? In Tanzania? Thanks Mr. Government!

"Invisible families: uncovering the variety of gay, lesbian, bisexual and
transgender families in the Muslim World - Location New York University" - $40,000.00

Why are spending $40K so this useless study can be conducted in New York? I could have saved them a lot of money and told them - look in the cemeteries that's where you'll find all you need to know, they're dead or working the Bacha Bazi circuit. You might check out Tel Aviv where the lucky few have fled.

"Exploring the interlinkages between HIV/AIDS-related morbidity and morality, forest resource dependence, and household resilience in Tanzania" $140,000.00

There's so much more, what a waste.

This news reminds me of the Monty Python classic:

I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay,
I sleep all night and I work all day.

I cut down trees, I skip and jump,
I like to press wild flowers.
I put on women's clothing,
And hang around in bars.

I cut down trees, I wear high heels,
Suspendies and a bra.
I wish I'd been a girlie,
Just like my dear pappa.

Ha Ha

It does;)

Why does Carleton need $140K to study the production of Canadian literature, to cite just one example? We could dump this whole Council and miss nothing.

I see very little that is being funded that is of interest beyond or of benefit to anyone but a very small circle of likeminded academic navel gazers.

All this ridiculous funding needs to be on the chopping block.  In a time of deficit like the present we cannot afford such a blatant waste of tax payer dollars.

It's shocking how our money is simply flushed down the proverbial toilet. No one save for the bureaucrats and the academics they serve would notice if this department were shut down tomorrow.
