Radical Muslim Clerics invited to Toronto - By Jonathan Halevi for Shalom Toronto
Toronto Islamic organization invites two preachers from Jordan belonging to Salafi movement who called on Muslims to follow the path of jihad and kill Jews, to annual conference at end of December.
The Qur'an and Sunnah Society of Canada (QSSC) plans to hold its annual conference on December 28-30 at the society's headquarters in 1865B Lawrence Avenue East, Toronto. The society is affiliated to the Qur'an and Sunnah society of North America (QSS) based in the U.S. and devoted to the Salafi ideology, striving to return the Muslim believers to follow the path of early Islam in its initial stages in the seventh century A.D.
The society's official web site states that its goals are, among others, to behave according to the way of life of the prophet Muhammad and his companions; to establish a true Islamic society; to warn Muslims of polytheism, reforms or adoption of alien ideas; to enjoin Muslims to accept Islam and abide by its commands; and distance them from parties who stray from the original Islam.
The Qur'an and Sunnah's Society 26th Annual Conference has invited as guests of honor two Jordanian clerics, Sheikh Ali Al Halabi (Pending a Canadian Visa), and Sheikh Akram Ziyadah (visa confirmed). These two clerics are among the leaders of the Jordanian Salafi movement, and have expressed in the past veritable anti-Israeli and anti-Jewish positions.
In his article, 'the mosque of the prophets and the murderers of the prophets', Sheikh Akram Ziyadah responds to reports in the media about what he defines as 'an assault by thieves, settlers, Zionists and Jews on the mosque of the prophets in the village of Bait Fajar south of Bethlehem. Sheikh Ziyadah asks cynically: 'why should we criticize them, when their grandparents killed the prophets in the past'.
'Yes we endorse rational attitudes and examine the circumstances, but we uphold preparedness and readiness (for conflict) but not with inferiority, weakness and disgrace', wrote Sheikh Ziyadah, and continued: 'we shall not forget the promise of the prophet (Muhammad)….' The Day of Judgment will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews, when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdullah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews.'
After quoting prophet Muhammad in the Hadith (recordings of deeds and sayings attributed to Muhammad), Ziyadah writes: 'the following day seems close to him that is anticipating it', and adds a quotation from the Quran (surat al-Rum, verses 4-5): 'And that day the believers will rejoice in the victory of Allah'.
In another article dealing with questions pertaining to prayers at a funeral, Sheikh Ziyadah concludes with the following: 'I pray to Allah and appeal to him that my death shall be a testimony to the path of jihad according to Islamic law, going toward it without turning back on the battlefield against the enemies of Allah - Jews, Christians, pagans, those worshipping other gods in their belief in Allah, and the hypocrites; thus observing Allah's words alone'.
Sheikh Ali Al Halabi delivered a lecture in 2009 emphasizing the utter importance of Muslims to abide by the concept of jihad in the way of Allah, based on the true belief in Allah, in order to remove the humiliation from the nation of Islam.
Regarding this humiliation, Sheikh Ali Al Halabi noted that 'Allah brought about the Jews to rule over them (the Muslims), and they (the Jews) are the biggest scoundrels (of all nations), slayers of prophets… and they are brothers of the monkeys and pigs…they are the evil nation…a despicable, contemptible and disgraceful people…they (the Jews) adhere to a life of exploitation, a life of treachery, a life of villainy and deception'.
Al Halabi went on to say that according to the Islamic faith 'the Muslims will fight the Jews until the stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdullah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. But who will this slave of Allah be, who will this Muslim be faithful to the words of Allah and to those of the prophet of Allah…who will achieve the honor of this victory, and the greatness of this position?'.
