Jihad Watch Under Attack

The site is down intermittently, they have been under attack for several days. I assume via DDOS - denial of service attack. Any thoughts on the best means of defending against this?

When a ddos attack is occurring, change the dns entry to refer to www.fbi.gov, then change it back afterwards.
